Allegria?
So the Allegria hotel in Long Beach.. I kind of unexpectedly really, really liked this place after deciding last minute to check it out. It's on the beach/ boardwalk which will make for great photos, the ceremony and cocktail hours has a beautifull 180 view of the ocean with floor to ceiling windows on the rooftop. It has an awesome modern/llounge feel like the city but the relaxed, scenic vibe by being on the beach. It's pretty close to the feel of what I envisioned.HOWEVER, I have not been reading great reviews on the hotel (on trip advisor) and I haven't been able to find too many wedding reviews but I am getting the feeling it's not too positive. I will be honest - the price I was quoted was high (not as high as i have read posted here, but I am a Sunday in the off season within in this year), m but it is STILL more than what we wanted (like $45ish pp more than we wanted), but for a second i got so wrapped up in finding a place that actually met all my criteria that I thought IF I loved it and IF it was WORTH it maybe we could end this exhausting venue search, But I am really nervous.
Anyone???

Allegria?
I'm getting married there in May. The reviews are horrible. My fiancé and I have been there a bunch of times...which is why we chose the location. Besides the insane view and rooftop lounge. We love the south beach/miami vibe upstairs. I hired an amazing wedding planner that will assure me that everything will go well if their staff isn't up to par. She's done many events there and knows the 'lay of the land.' If I didn't hire her I'd be a nervous wreck. Lol

I forgot to mention they went through a complete staff restructure...new chef, new managers, etc. The catering manager used to run the Garden City Hotel.

You have good taste
Lucky you... Unfortunately, I can't afford a wedding planner if they stay strong on their current quote. The reviews are really disconcerting. My excitement totally plummeted after I left there and started reading. The catering manager was who I met with and he did mention his past experience at the Garden City Hotel. I'm just curious when this restructure took place ??

Allegria?
We went to a wedding there last July. The wedding itself was amazing and perfect but the hotel stay was anything but. The air conditioners were broken in 60% of the rooms, they messed up our room by overbooking so we had to change rooms instead of enjoying the beach, and we found a cockroach in our bathroom. We heard s lot of people yelling at the front desk all weekend and the groom ran around like crazy trying to fix everyone's room problems. I would say be very cautious with the hotel portion but the rooftop wedding was absolutely stunning.

We ended up doing a room block at another local hotel. With the discount they were going to charge $499 a night for our guests because it's 'prime season.' That's absurd for Long Beach! We're staying there because the room is included in our package. We don't have many OOT guests so it's not much of an issue.

You can definitely negotiate. My fiancé was dead set on having this venue and went back and forth with them a few times. We ended up getting a good deal for the Allegria. It's still on the pricey side. I'm fortunate in that my fiancé is paying for the venue that's why I got a planner....I don't want him to be disappointed if the night doesn't go as he expects after paying all that money.
As far as restructuring, I wanna say it was 2-3 yrs ago. It was after hurricane Sandy.

That would be concerning to me if I were you. There are many other places that have beautiful views of the beach like Lands End- and I'm sure other places as well. I would pick the place that had amazing reviews because if you are concerned about it now and haven't booked- I can't imagine when and if you do! I think you should keep looking into some other places first :/ I'm sorry you feel so torn!

Definitely check out Land's End if you love the beach view/feel it's gorgeous! And Crescent Beach Club is right on the beach as well, although I've heard mixed reviews. My FBIL and FSIL got married there in September (just a 30 person Thursday afternoon ceremony and lunch in their restaurant). Unfortunately it rained so the ceremony had to be inside, and the maitre d was a little rude. Not sure how their regular weddings are as I haven't had any experience. She just seemed annoyed that she had to come to work for a Thursday afternoon wedding (and my FMIL is a little CRAZY, so I'd probably be angry too lol).

I agree.. You don't want to be stressed out for the next 8 months wondering if something will go wrong. Check out harbor club at prime.. It's new and has great reviews on the water in Huntington and has a similar very modern vibe. Other on-the-water venues... Lands end, Venetian yacht club, bridgeview yacht club

Yes that's a turn off. If I'm paying that much for a wedding I want to ensure the entire package is worth it. I sm at least glad to hear the reception part was good.

That makes sense.
Which hotel is local ? I can't think of any too close.
I wasn't sure if the restructure was brand, brand new or not. Thanks !

Thanks for the other suggestions. I did like Bridgeview but it still has a catering hall feel to me. But it is very pretty and I have heard good thingsLands end didn't have our date or anything close. I am going to Prime today. And will take a look at the other suggestions too.
Thanks !!
