So my DH has never worn a ring before in his life! so wearing his wedding band has been an adjustment for him... he was complaining about it the whole honeymoon and i was telling him to suck it up and eventually he would get use to it.
well he took it off today and underneath were the ring was, is all irritatied!
his ring is tungsten...do you think he is allergic to it!!!!
what should he do get a new one? but i feel its like weird cuz they did all the blessings of the ring during the ceremony!

Re: allergic reaction to wedding bands
Sometimes... if he washes with it on, soap can get underneath and the soap can dry out your finger and it will get all irritated and chapped and itchy. This has happened with me before.
If that's not what it is then he might be allergic. he should get that tested. I think an allergist can test that.

Re: allergic reaction to wedding bands
Is tungsten hypoallergenic? Tungsten carbide is 100% hypoallergenic and allergy free and will not produce skin irritation or discoloration. Tungsten does not react to sunlight, salt water, chlorine or anything that the body emits. We use solid tungsten carbide with confidence knowing that anyone can wear it without the concern of an adverse reaction to your body. Tungsten carbide rings require other metals to be used as a 'binder', with cobalt and nickel being the two most common. While cobalt is cheaper, it will cause the tungsten to oxidize over time, and cause spots to appear on the metal that cannot be removed. This is why we only use nickel as a binder. Tungsten - like titanium - actually bonds to the nickel molecules, preventing them from leeching into the skin. This is why tungsten is hypoallergenic.
ETA: maybe he is allergic to a binder?

Re: allergic reaction to wedding bands
I had an allergic reaction to my platinum engagement ring last year.
Red bumps, etc. I went to the doctor got some cream and do the following: I don't wear my ring to bed or in the shower. Dry under the ring really well after you wash your hands.
It started when it was hot outside and sweaty.
Its fine now
Hope that helps!

He should go to an allergist. It's really simple to get tested. My friend is actually allergic to nickel, so she's allergic to her e-ring and w-band. It's better to know.
It's also possible he just got soap or something stuck under his ring, which is just irritating his skin.

MY DH had irritation too... For him the skin peeled off but there wasn't any red bumps or anything.. He left it off for a few days and when he tried again it was fine. I think for him it was just getting used to it.. If it continues I would def see an allergist though!
