alligator clip for your hair

Im in the process of buying a clip for my hair .. I want to buy it from the same vendor I got my belt from this way they will match the design.
But I'm a bit hesitant..
I will be wearing my hair half up half down curled.. And I was thinking the clip could hold the half up hair..Anyone have any experience with these clips..Would you recommend?
I pictured a barrette? But the vendor says she does it on an alligator clip

alligator clip for your hair

Alligator clips are easy to put in and easy to remove to replace without messin up the hair. It will not likely hold your hair up though. Pin your style with bobby pins and then the clip gets tucked in just to make it look like its holding it but really just for show. Don't be hesitant! Most decorative clips are not ment to hold a lot of hair. Hope that helps!
