Allowing your chilld to date???

THey had a good topic on 98.7 this morning..
'What age do you allow ur child to :
Talk on the phone with the opposite sex
Go on a date

It's a touchy subject.. Talent(Radio host) has a son, he said talk on the phone 12-13, date 15...
Sheila(Radio Host) has a 15 yr old daughter and she says, talk on the phone 15, date 16-17... she says what do they need to talk on the phone for, whatever they need to say can be said in school. She says parents need to teach their son's self control. I felt like calling up and say she got it twisted with the fast *** girls! lol

Talent was like, ur daughter is going to rebel.. it was really good! They had to go to a commercial break, because Talent and SHeila got off the mic and was screaming on eachother... hahahah

I have 13 yr old twin boyz and they are at the stage of talking on the phone,

Re: Allowing your chilld to date???

I started 'kiddy' dating at 13/14 (group dates to the Roller Rink/Bowling, etc.). But I also got involved seriously w/my first love at 14 and things went too far. My now 14 year old niece has been dating since 13 and she behaves like the town hootch....

Keeping that in mind, I would like to think I won't let my daughter date until she's 15-16 but I'm also not stupid to think she'll try to sneak around and play the game behind my back...these kids today think they can get one over on you...

I would go by what I know and experienced.

I was 16 when I was allowed to start dating, and those dates I was either driven by my parents to the movies and picked up by my parents. Never was I left alone to get into trouble. But, my parents were very over protective of me, and still are to this day.

I never really talked to boys on the phone, it was usually my girl friends mostly. I would talk to boys mostly in school or my friends and I would call from someone elses home so my parents wouldnt know.

Todays world is definitely a LOT different then when I was growing up. 13, 14, 15, & 16 year olds are a lot more mature now (so it seems) and are more promiscuous.

I remember when I was 15, this boy liked me and he wanted to make out with me.. I thought it was disgusting to think he would put his tongue down my throat.. LOL
Nowadays boys & girls think nothing of it..

Times have definitely changed, and I guess I'll have to deal with each situation as it comes and hope for the best.

yea, we can only hope & pray for the best..
I wish my sons wouldn't worry about girls till they are out of High School, but I know tha is not likely.. It's bad enough they look 17 and they are only 13...

THe girls r crazy about them. I thad to tell a few that they can't get any calls.. being that I work and don't get in till 5:30pm, I'm sure they talk on the phone..

Wow, they are good looking boys. Something tells me you are going to be in for more trouble than you can imagine w/the girls Sometimes they can be more aggresive than the boys.

yeah, I know!

I'm trying to keep them busy with sports, but the girls are still calling...

It's crazy, life with kids have so many different stages, you jus have to jump to the next stage even if ur not ready...

Your boys are VERY good looking!! You better get that stick handy cause you'll be beating off those girls fighting over them.

They definitely look VERY mature for there age, I would never think they were that young.. I was going to say they look atleast 20.

How come boys didnt look that good looking when I was growing up??? All the boys that age were all dorks.. but like I said before.. kids today are looking a lot more mature then they did back in the day.

I'm sure you instilled a lot of values and morals in your boys, so I'm sure they will make the right decisions. I would say you doing the right thing so far, all you can do is hope for the best.

Lots of Luck!
