What have you been quoted as far as caps on alterations go? I tried on my dress tonight (Maggie Sottero Grace) and they told me $175. The dress fits perfect except for the length. Is this quote average or absolutely absurd? I'm not sure what to think!
TIA!

$175 plus $10 for each point on the bustle. I think I am going to take it elsewhere though.

if you have a wedding dress w/a lot of work on the bottom, it's kind of impossible to hem the dress w/o losing the work. so instead, the seamstress will take a special measurement and have the dress length made to your measurements. this measurement is called 'hollow to hem'.

Mine was $150. I had the train removed and the dress hemmed.

Hollow to hem - $150 (talked down from $200!) and the alterations are capped at $200 from Lestan's in Brooklyn, however I am probably going to have my dress altered elsewhere.

$300 cap from RK bridal - and I will likely go to the cap, b/c I need length, bustle, and to take it in quite a bit...
Yup same for me, and since I expect to lose more weight before my surgery I am sure I will hit the cap since I expect my whole dress will need to be altered one size smaller atleast.
