Hi! I bought my dress at Bridal Garden in Bethpage and I got charged up the wazoo for my headpiece and tiara, I was VERY annoyed after I paid for everything and realized just how much I was over charged for these two things (let me just say I paid more for these two things than the cost of my dress and it wasn't even custom made)! I just got a call telling me my dress was in and they asked me if I wanted to make an apt. for my first fitting and I said no after I heard how much they wanted to charge me for alterations! Does anyone know who I can take my wedding dress to for alterations in Nassau Cty???

I can't help with a tailor recommendation (I live is Massachusetts), but perhaps I can make you feel a bit better about alteration costs. I spent $340 on alterations !!! *HUGS* Of course if they told you more then that, I am super sorry! EEK!

Are you willing to go to Astoria? I am using Karin Yyngvesdotter, a seamstress who also makes custom made gowns. My alterations for my dress will be about $170. She is great and was recommended to me by someone on this site!

Nina, where in Astoris is she located? Will she alter bridesmaid dresses? My MOH is going to need to find someone in Astoria to do her bridesmaid dress. Thanks.

She's off the Grand Central PKwy, Steinway Street exit and she lives on 41th Street, off of 25th. Her website is www.yngvesdotter.com. I'm sure she would do bridesmaid dresses too.

thanks girls, I would rather find someone in LI since I don't have a car, I don't want to carry around my dress on the train, this way I could ask my MOH to take me someplace in LI. I can't believe dress places charge so much for alterations, you're almost better off having someone MAKE a wedding dress! But thanks for your advice ladies, I appreciate it!

that is after my cap...they should be $250...
