Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
Re: Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
That seems really high to me. I know my alterations were included (all hemming, taking in, etc.). The only thing not included was the bustle and the price for that was either $100 or $150 depending on the type.
Re: Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
wow...1200 for alterations?? holy crap. I don't know much about this, so I would wait to see what other girls say, but my alteration cap was $250 and my bustle was $80. I had it done at Princess Bridals in Farmingdale. I mean...I agree, it cost me almost half of what I paid for my dress!!! Its insane. I wish someone would have told me to expect to pay at least half of what I paid for the dress originally.
Re: Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
I didn't get the dress from them, I bought it at davids bridal but I wanted to check out alterations at other bridal salons that will take in outside work. The price seemed high to me too but i have not done this before so i wasn't sure
Re: Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
my seamstress said it wont exceed $500

Re: Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
I am def going to try other places. This price seems way too high. I could always make the appointment with the seamstress...i spoke with a sales rep, not the seamstress so maybe the price might be lower...i hope haha but i will def get more opinions. I just wanted to know if I was being unreasonable for thinking that this price was too high. Any one have any suggestions?

You have FM
Re: Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
That seems really high. I got my dress at Lillettes and the alteration cap is $295 and for the bustle its $20 per set of ribbons not to exceed $150, so $1200 that is nuts, i would go somewhere else
Re: Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
What kind of bustle are you getting? I had a 19 point French bustle and it was only a few hundred. The hem was $95 if I remember correctly. Your quote is waaaay out of proportion. You need to get another quote. I know it tends to be more expensive if you didn't buy the dress from them so I suggest you go to a seamstress not a bridal salon. Someone had recommended this bridal alterations place to me when I was looking. It's in the Target parking lot in Farmingdale. They're cheap and very good.
Re: Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
I am not sure what type of bustle i am going to get. I had originally thought that i needed to get a french bustle because there is a lot of beading and i do not want to hide that when i bustle the dress. hmm...i have to research a little more on this. The sales rep I spoke with told me that it is like ten dollars per point but that there might be other work that needs to be done and stuff...i guess i have to make the appointment to speak with the seamstress herself to know for sure...

Thanks for the help and suggestions!
Re: Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
wow I got my dress from Fantasia and I am having it altered there, I was told the bustle points are 15.00 dollars for each point. 1200.00 yikes that is more than I paid for my gown. I think there is something wrong there. I would call again and ask.

That seems really high. I got my alterations done at Fantasia including a 17-point bustle and a hem, and it was like $300. Maybe ask them what it would be itemized? I think the bustle points are $10 per point, and the hem was $100....I really didn't need any other alterations though.
Re: Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
I would take my dress and go elsewhere. That is such a rip off

Re: Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
My alterations are capped at $225 it's $10 for each point of the bustle. I got my dress at Paradise Bridal in Patchogue.
Re: Alterations and bustle prices...I need help!
My seamstress is charging me $280 for ALL alterations including a bustle but she's not affiliated with a dress shop, she just works for a little tailor's shop. And my gown is a heavy lace. So yeah, that seems a little ridiculous to pay for just the alterations. I think seamstress services from these wedding boutiques are ridiculously overpriced but then again, brides don't want someone ruining their gown so they'll pay it. My lady custom designs wedding gowns as well so I trust her.
