It depends

I did not have it alter where I purchased it. Instead, I went to a tailor and her prices were good. Bt if you need alterations plus a bustle, you'll probably be around $300-$400 no matter where you go. Maybe less if y just need a bustle

It is a lot of money to alter a wedding dress but I think you can get a simpler bustle to save money - the more complex it is the more money it is. Atleast that's how it is at my store.

Depends...My wedding hasn't even come yet, and I regret spending what I spent on my dress, and going with the bridal boutique I went with. I spent $2k on my gown, I ordered in White, (all my paper work states it is ordered in White) My dress came in Off White, and their paperwork, makes it look obvious that they just added 'off' above the white... Full details, will go in review, and I plan to explore my options, as to recourse after the wedding...

Alterations, are just under $500

Can you tell I'm fairly bitter that I have a $2,500 dress, & it's not even the color I wanted

I paid $467.08 for just a bustle, and I was supposed to be capped at $250 for the bustle.

It also depends on what type of dress you have too. My dress cost me $1000. Its lace with lots of beading and the alterations will cost me $400. That includes taking it in, the hem and the bustle.

If it was a somewhat plain dress it would be less. Also, use outside alteration people. It will save you money.

I would rather spend more money on a good seamstress than a dress. A good seamstress can take a cheap dress and make it look fabulous. A lousy seamstress can take a spectactular dress and turn it into a hot mess.

Mine cost about 175$ , I bought my dress at the bridal suite in centereach and they put a 250 cap on the alterations. If you havnt bought your dress yet ask them to put a cap on the alterations, they may throw that in to sell you on a dress.

i heard the same thing, but i think it depends on where you go. i was told keinfelds charges like 500$ off the bat but i thought that was hard to believe.

my friend told me about some place in NJ that includes the alterations that we might check out.

I paid about 250 with bustle, cap sleeves and hemming each layer because I am a short person. I would say get a petite dress if you are short so that you save yourself money.

I bought a sample dress for $450 and then I had them add a sweet heart neckline, sewn on a rhinestone belt, add pickups with rhinestones, add fullness and sewn in the slip, and bustle and hem and it was $425 for all of that....It seemed like a lot of money at the time but compared to some of the other prices I actually feel better about it...

Village Bridal in Babylon... After I pick my dress up, I will be forming formal complaints.

Wow a wedding dress for $330? Incredible! I've only seen stuff like that online! where did your friend get her dress from?

Since we're talking about seamstresses, did anyone use a seamstress? If so, who did you use, and were you happy with the work?
