Alterations ( spin off of Mulligans post )

Brides...........

If you have your heart set on a specific designer, or a particular brand you can only get at flagship stores you are going to pay through the nose for alterations.

Make sure you allow 20% of the total cost of the dress for this added expense. Be sure to ask questions, specific questions in advnance.

3 important questions:

1. How much for a bustle? Do different bustles cost more? If so, how much?

2. How much is it to hem my dress? Should I get hollow to hem?

3. If there is am intricate design on your dress, ask specifically how it can be effected by alterations!!!!

I called at least 20 stores looking for the best price not only on my dress but also on alterations.

I will say it again, I got my dress, alterations and steaming of my dress the day before my wedding for 750$ and that includes my bustle!

DK Bridal in Queens Village is my fav vendor. Kem, the owner is AMAZING and has gone so far as to order a special needs size and alterations for my fullest figured bridesmaid!

yeah, a majority of the stores cap your alterations when you buy it from them. Each store has a different price, some $300 some $350 and so on. I did read the macy's thread so i guess they dont do this which is why it can get confusing

cap doesn't include your bustle - that is extra. Found that out when i wanted a double french bustle and had to pay an extra $150
