Alternative Hour

Alternative Hour

The question of the day is..

Would you be offended if there would be two endings to a wedding?. FH and I are having the last hour of the wedding to be.. let's just say heavy metal hour. We know it will freak people out so we are telling them about it in an insert in the the invitations. That way they can leave before the hour and everyone can have their way. Offensive or not?

I put this on the Brides Helping Brides post and got some interesting feedback. A lot of people thought I want to send an invitation saying that the last hour is for us, (we don't care if you like the music or not, so get out.) Not so. It would be like an enclosure to the invitation. We would be having 2 full endings to the wedding. About 30-40 people would be staying for this particular hour (and afterwards at the bar ). Anyone that wants to stay can, they can relax in the garden area. We figured one hour for us to have what we want isn't too wrong since everyone keeps telling us what we have to 'have'.

This is what I am thinking as an insert

We hope you will join us for this special day. There will be something a little different in the official last hour of the wedding. We enjoy an alternative type of music (that is harder than typical wedding music), and from 5-6 p.m we will be showcasing that. We recognize that this music is not suitable for everyone, so we will be having two endings to our wedding. The official wedding will run from 12:30- to 4:30, and from 5-6 we will have our heavier music, so as to not offend.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding regarding this, and hope to see you there.

What do you guys think?

I dont think it is a bad idea, I just think you should include in the invite that everyone is welcomed to stay for the extra hour.

i dont think its a bad idea if you want, i would probably clean up a bit what you are writing in the invite so that people are aware that you are not 'kicking them out' so to speak...JMO

I agree that everyone should have the choice to say but the warning is key. I love it

I LOVE the idea, def.welcome everyone to stay. Maybe ask some of the girls that are very good with words. Like maybe on the reception card say in lieu of a VH we will have a mini concert or After the traditional ending of our wedding we will be hosting a heavy letal hour we welcome all to stay and enjoy.

If it were I wouldn't be super detailed or even mention offending anyone. Just state what it is and invite all, of coursenot everyone will stay, just those who want to! Good Luck, I really like the idea (anything that makes a wedding personal! ) Let usknow what you do!

As long as it's stated nicely that everyone is welcome to stay for the hour extra then it's all good.

It sounds a little funny how it's phrased--maybe refer to it is an 'after party.' That way the old people don't feel excluded or kicked out.

That really is a great idea. I dont think its wrong either as long as you point out that everybody is invited. But if you wanted to avoid it all together, you could have metal at an after party? You could have one at another location and only invite some people. That way nobody will be offended if they don' t know about it. Just an idea. Good luck!

Hey...your day, your way. As long as you invite everyone to stay and leave the decision up to them, I think it's a Great idea!
