I did not rent limousines for our wedding day since we are getting ready at the hall. I have 2 girls asking me how 'we' are going to get around that day. Mind you we ALL have cars...but somehow it's been left to me to drive everyone on my wedding day?? WOW!!
We have an early flight the next day and decided it would be best to stay in a hotel near the airport (JFK) since we have to be there so early with all the security precautions.
Ok..so here's where my question comes in. Is it asking too much to: a). have someone pick up my dress and tux at the hotel the day after our wedding as well as his tuxedo? I love the idea of leaving the hall dressed and heading off to the hotel. I didn't want to take my dress off because I feel I spent so much $$ on it to begin with and to wear it for only 5 hours..seems so fast, and makes me sad. Granted it would be easier to remove it before I left the hall..but I wanted to keep the ambiance of the night and have my new husband remove it, and honestly what is the big deal about coming to pick it up at the hotel? It's not THAT far. MOH is showing signs of not wanting to do it...hasn't really said she won't...but has hinted to it. The BM is willing to do it..but I just feel like it's really messed up that my MOH or any of my friends for that matter seem to understand why I don't want to take it off. (Keep in mind one girl who's in my BP got married in May, left the hall in her dress and hasn't even cleaned her dress because she wanted to keep the ambiance of that night). So what's wrong w/me wanting to do the same?
Am I asking for too much?

Re: Am I asking for too much?
i guess it depends on where the hotel is in relation to where someone in your BP lives... if its right down the street, or if they are staying at the same hotel, i don't see the big deal... but if its out of the way for them, i don't know that i would expect them to do it... also- i'm guessing they then have to drive to your house to drop it off, that might be tough for them,too... for me, it was just easier to take it off at the hall, and then hand it to my mom so i knew it made it home ok, and didn't inconveinence anybody...

Re: Am I asking for too much?
this is my VERY HUMBLE OPINION.... take it with a grain of salt....
i agree with the two previous replies... IN PART.
i feel that if you are asked AND ACCEPT to be part of a bridal party, you need to understand that there are RESPONSIBILITIES.
for every bride/wedding, the 'fine print' is a little different. i don't think that it's unreasonable for you to ask your bridal party to HELP for a WEDDING-RELATED need.
i say this from both ends of the BP. i was in my cousin's wedding, i was from a different state, and i found a way to get around and do a few things the bride needed at the last minute.
now that i'm the bride, they are doing the same for me.
in the end, you know your bp the best. and you know how much you can expect of them. but MY OPINION is that your request isn't unrealistic.
those are my two cents.

me too... at the end of the night you are just going to want to get that damn dress off anyway - you'll be in it for a lot more than 5 hours!

I couldn't wait to rip that dress off. I did it at the hall, and it took 3 people to get it off. My DH would have just pulled out a scissor and cut the thing!!!!

Re: Am I asking for too much?
I took mine off at the hotel room-(we have family and friends staying over so it was not a problem getting it home) BUT, I think your request is not asking too much
If MOH cant do it, maybe there is a reasons-but counting on a family member or other BP member is reasonable...

Re: Am I asking for too much?
my sister had a similar prob... one of the girls in her BP organized a Long Island taxi van to get everyone home and it was about $7 a person.... worked out good, and people were happy not to drive

Re: Am I asking for too much?
I don't think it is unreasonable at all. My mom got remarried two years ago, and she kept it on till she went to bed-12 hours. I don't blame her and I don't blame you for wanting to keep it on. I don't think it's too much to ask, but if they are not willing, can someone in your family do it?
