ok, so I know that tomorrow will be exactly 2 years until my wedding, however, I just feel behind after reading some old posts on here. I have my reception hall booked, my dress, veil, fur wrap, headband, some of my centerpiece items, and the materials to make my card box. Saturday I'm meeting with the church and the 13th the photographer we want. I just feel like everyone is booking things left and right and that I'm just not moving quick enough!!!
does anyone think I am behind?
I'm so overwhelmed- I am a full time teacher and a full time grad student obtaining 2 masters and will be done in may!!
please tell me I don't need to be spending even more time doing wedding research!!!!

Noo not at all! So far your ahead of me!!! Lol don't overwhelm yourself, the wedding planning is about enjoying yourself and making every moment memorable! You still have plenty of time! Take the summer (after u grad) to start focusing on ur wedding! Right now focus on school...and don't stress it! :) hope all goes well!

NOOOO! You're totally fine! I'm a full time grad student also so I only really plan things in the summer and that one little break in winter haha. My suggestion would just be to get the photographer and DJ or band booked when you can. I have venue, photo/video and DJ booked and the rest can wait. I didn't even start looking at dresses/flowers/invites and all the other stuff yet! We still have plenty of time. Try not to stress! :)

You're not at all behind! Though I understand how you feel about feeling behind when you go a few months without doing anything. Definitely book photographer and DJ before too much time goes by as they can book very far in advance. But dress is a HUGE check and I envy you for having that done already!
Just enjoy the engagement and don't stress too much! There will be plenty of time for that later, hahaha.

Definitely NOT behind. Just like cj52514 I'm also in school right now so planned the venue, DJ and photographer by the end of the summer only because I knew I would not be able to devote time during the school year. You still have a ton of time, but also it was nice to have these big things booked 2 years in advance because I got exactly what I wanted.

Not at all, we just got engaged last April and put together the entire wedding in 10 months. You have two years to go, just enjoy the time and try not to stress. Things will get done, I would say if there are any vendors you absolutely love book them a head of time, otherwise just wait.
PS - my wedding is in 2 months and I dont have a florist yet hahaha. Talk about being behind. But, I am making my decision this weekend. Just goes to show you there is no reason to rush into anything, youll be fine.

Nope! I kind of wish we were took our time with things rather than just jump right into planning after we got engaged. Don't get me wrong, I love every vendor we've booked, but so many people told me to just slow down!

I definitely dont think you are behind! Sometimes I get the same feeling from the boards but use your long time frame to your advantage-- not necessarily booking quickly, because thats what people with short engagements need to do! Stretch out your time and enjoy being engaged!!
Also, I have this app on my iphone, weddinghappy, and you type in your wedding date and based on that it creates a timeline of when things should get done. Obviously, there is room for a bit of editing to fit your needs but I think its a pretty good way of breaking everything down so it is a lot less overwhelming!

Just to give everyone a little hope and hopefully less stress - my FH's sister had a 3 month engagement and her wedding was great!
Being engaged should also be an exciting time! Try not to lose all the excitement and happiness in wedding planning details. Everything will come together for all of us and I'm sure we'll all have beautiful weddings :)

I have the same schedule as you - I can NOT wait to be done with school! I definitely don't think you're behind. I haven't done anything other than my church/RH. We booked limos and hair/make-up by default because we knew who we wanted and are booking our honeymoon this week because we're going at a time where the schools are off and it will likely be busy. Unless you know exactly what you want and want to be sure you can get it, I definitely don't think you need to rush! Good luck!

thanks this definitely makes me feel better!!! I'm meeting with the pastor at my church on saturday and then the photographer next thursday so hopefully those will be another 2 checks off my list!!
