Hey girls, I'm kinda bummed out... we were just talking about my Bridal Shower at dinner, and I REALLY want my Shower to be all girls. I thought it would be nice to have an intimate affair with all the ladies. However, my mom insists on inviting the 'little boys' who are in the Bridal Party to the Bridal Shower. This would be a 2 yr old, a 3 yr old, a 4 yr old, a 12 yr old, and a 17 yr old. Am I wrong for wanting just girls? It's not even the really little ones that I'm really concerned about (although I would LOVE for it to JUST be all girls), but I really do not want my 12 & 17 yr old nephews watching me open some like lacey sexy underwear or something. But it's her grandsons, and I know she isn't going to budge. Am I wrong for being bummed out about this? :/ I KNOW she won't listen to me.
ETA: I really don't want ANY boys. If it was just toddlers, they aren't going to know what's happening anyway- that's what I meant. But I really just want all girls.

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla?
I agree with you. I think the older boys will feel out of place there as well! Are any of your BM's a family member who can talk to your mom for you about your wishes? Or maybe a close aunt? They can help to convince her that this isn't the right place for the boys, without it seeming like a bridezilla request.
Maybe the boys could just be there for when you walk in. Typically in my family, the guys get together during the shower at someone's house or a local pub - maybe the older boys can do that instead?

Noooooo you are definitely not. I think it would be very awkward for you, the older boys, and probably some of the guests if you had the older boys there. I would also not want kids running around my shower. I completely agree that it should be ALL girls!!!! Did you tell your mom what you said about you opening lingerie and having a 12 and 17 year old boy there??? Maybe she didn't think of that....

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla?
I happen to agree with you... I mean I guess I could see if someone couldn't get a sitter and had to bring a younger male child but a 12yr old and a 17yr old... that is kinda weird... maybe you'll luck out and they won't want to be there.

Not a bridezilla at all.... You need to lay down the law lol. If your mom won't listen, maybe you can get someone else to talk to her for you. The day isn't about what she wants, it is all about YOU!

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla?
Try to reason with her. If she won't see reason....TURN INTO A BRIDEZILLA!!! You should get your way, especially since it's your day. I wouldn't want any boys at my shower either. I think it might be nice for them to be there in the beginning so they can greet you and take pictures, but I would lay the law down. Tell your mom, if they're there, you're not.

Ummm definitely NOT bridezilla. Boys are not supposed to be at showers. Only at the end to help take gifts to the car!

Re: Am I being a Bridezilla?
Thanks girls for your suggestions & support! I'm going to talk to my Sister-in-Law (She's one of my BMs + the boys' mother), and ask if she can help me out on this one. I also realized that I have at least one very outspoken BM who has known my mom for 17 years. So I think b/t both of those factors, my mom can be convinced that showers are NOT for boys.
