Am I being a bridezilla? Need Advice!

Am I being a bridezilla? Need Advice!

OK, kind of long...so I think I have been pretty calm this whole process...even when my mom tells me that my aunt and cousin will be sleeping over the night before the wedding and will be there getting ready in the morning while my 7 bridesmaids are getting their makeup done and getting dressed. So I was a little annoyed but let it slide. Now she tells me that my 18 year old girl cousin and 20 year old guy cousin will be there too...that's added onto my parents, sister, me and FSIL. That's 9 people showering, eating breakfast, taking up space while 7 other girls get makeup and dressed in big gowns. Am I being too bridezilla that i told me mom no way? I said send them to my other aunt''s house (but other relatives are already staying there). My mom says don't worry she'll make a schedule that everyone has to follow. I am so annoyed...there is no way that i will not feel stressed with all of these people (most of them, read: aunt's whole family) are annoying, and the 18 year old takes hour long showers and insits on reamining in the bathroom until she is fully dressed and made up. HELLO???? I wanted to get ready stress free with my girls and my parents!!! What should I do>?? Any good ideas??

Oh no way! What is wrong with a hotel? That's kind of imposing on you and your family for all of them to be crashing there. I don't blame you.

I guess i'm a bridezilla too, I would've been like HE LL no! The house should be reserved for only you and your BP and your parents (if you want your parents to be there) having extended family there (along with males) seems ridiculous to me...I would speak up if I were you..

you need to convince your mom... the last thing you want is too much stress, let them go to a hotel!

You are definitely not being a bridezilla with this one!

This is half the reason I decided to get ready at the hotel!!!

OH my God! I am going through the EXACT same situation. My sister (who is in the BP) wants to sleep over my Mom's with her husband and two sons (ages 2 and 9). My Mom has a small 2 bedroom. When I mentioned that there would be nowhere to sleep, she(my sister) said---and I am not even joking--'uuuuuuuummmmm, did you ever hear of air mattresses??'

I told my Mom that if they all slept over that I was going to get a hotel room for myself. Can you imagine 5 girls getting their hair and makeup done with a man and two boys running around a small two bedroom apartment??

So I feel your pain...

Ugh. I feel physically ill over this. My mom is trying to make everyone else happy! This is the first time in 10 months that Ihave said the words, 'It's my day'!!!! I understand that she doesn't want her closest sister to have to stay in a hotel...but the whole freaking family? I spoke to my other aunt who said that the kids can stay with her in her apt (small but whatever, they are all teenagers)!!! She said that she will personally tell them that they are to drive to her house and get ready there and hang out there until the ceremony (no going to my parents house at all). Thank god for her, she is much tougher than I or my mom, lol. I am still worried that my aunt wants to stay in the family room rather than the small guest room in my mom's house., and my other aunt said that she would take care of that one too! Can you imagine besides all of those people, 8 gowns, my gown and my veil hanging????? Thanks for letting me vent!!

i agree. i think that it's a little too much stress. Tell mom that it's important you spend the day with immediate family (mom, sisters, etc. ). Let them pay for a hotel.

You're not being bridezilla at all. Even my brothers and SILs are staying in a hotel when they come for the wedding.

No i told fh and mom that no one will be allowed to stay at our house. all those moochers need to shack up in a hotel room. the stress is not worth it.

I am a stressfree bride as well and I have to tell you that I would not let this one fly. That is a crazy request.

Oh HELL NO!!! I made my mom tell my Grandparents from FLORIDA that NOBODY is allowed to stay at the house the night before the wedding besides myself, my parents, and my brother and SIL....that's it...it is too much stress..I think you should really sit your mom down and discuss your concerns,....if that doesn't work, I would book a really nice hotel suite....Good luck!

There is no way......my in-laws have a strict policy about weddings......no one stays at the house of the parents of the bride or groom during the wedding for that reason. You and your parents don't need the added stress, so I would suggest they go to another relative's house or stay at a hotel.

um I guess they never heard of a hotel??? You are NOT being bridezilla by any means. That morning is going to be hectic to begin with and 15 people in the house no way

OH HELL NO!!!!! That's crazy enough, but a 20 year old man there?!?!?!? How are you all supposed to get dressed? I say get a hotel room the night before the wedding. If you have any rooms blocked at a hotel, you can possibly get the suite cheaper.

I was soooooooo happy that I decided to get a suite the night before my wedding. I was able to lay out everything I needed the night before, just to make sure I didn't forget anything. All my BM came over there to meet me and help me get dressed, so did my parents. That's even where the photographer met us. It was stress free and on my terms. Granted, I could've saved money by staying home (especially when we paid for the wedding ourselves) but I'm so glad I didn't!!!

Good luck!!!!

You're not being a bridezilla at all! Me and my mom already established with the family that the only people staying at our house the night before the wedding are the people who actually live here! Everyone else MUST stay in a hotel! And they really do have to because my family isn't even staying at the house the night of the wedding after the reception, they're staying at a hotel too! Your family really needs to realize that they can't do this to you and they have to stay in a hotel. There is nothing bridezilla-ish about that whatsoever.

ETA: And I don't think in any way you should give in and stay at a hotel yourself... I know personally that it is very important to me that I get ready at my own house and take pictures here, it is something I have always wanted to do. So if you feel that way as well, you shouldn't have to do that!

I would recomend getting a few hotel rooms for you and you BMs to get ready in. That is what my SIL did and what I plan on doing for my wedding too.
