am i being a drama queen??

so when it came time to do our guest list my MIL gave me about 50 people to invite on their side

well she said i dont know how many are going to come ( being that DH ENTIRE side was going to be out of state ) but i want them to at least know that thye are invited

that was fine no problem..

there was this one couple that are VERY well off with money that we went to dinner with when MIL was in town and they said that they were def going to come to our wedding and they could not wait and that they have never been to NY before and were really excited ( now this couple is our parents age with 3 children my age and DH age as well and the whle family was invited to our wedding )

well they never came never sent back a response or anything

but the daughter who is 21 is getting married in may and ive heard about it and my SIL is a brides maid and is going to her b-party in vegas and everyone talks about it

i dont think we are invited ( me and DH that is )

should i be kind of pissed because i invited them to mine?

Re: am i being a drama queen??

i'm only going to say no because I'm not inviting a LOT of people whose weddings I was invited to b/c i'm trying really hard to keep it small...

so I wouldn't be pissed at the fact that you weren't invited to theirs but i would be annoyed that they didn't respond or send a gift yet led you to believe they were coming. Who gets an invite and doesn't respond??

I would be

I totally understand not inviting some family but in my book if you invite one member of a family you invite the rest.

If we were inviting extended family I wuldn't invite one cousin and not his/her brother/sister. To me that is plain rude.

Is there an issue that they might have with you or DH maybe no one is aware of?
I only ask this cause you said that they said they were coming to your wedding but then never rsvped or showed.
maybe something happen between dinner and your wedding (that might not even be your fault, sometimes people take things the wrong way) that you are not aware of.

I would be pissed they never showed, but not that I'm not invited to their daughter's wedding. Screw them. It's not worth it.

Honestly I would be a bit mad about it.
I had invited a couple that didn't invite me (or DH) to their wedding but I wasn't mad about it at the time I let it go and I was a bit upset that they didn't show up to mine.

Some people are just jerks!

not really.

Getting an invitation to someones wedding doesn't mean receprocity.

Paul and I have been to plenty of weddings and we aren't inviting the a couples whose wedding we attended.

:: shrug ::

I am such a rebel!

Maybe you have a baby in your belly and your hormones are making you react more to this than normal

Perhaps you should take the advice you dished out the other day and don't sweat the small stuff.

i dont think this is the type of thing dom was suggesting as 'small stuff'.. totally different subject. i think it is rude of them to say they were coming to your wedding and act so excited then not even RSVP or show up. it would make me wonder what is going on especially since they are now not inviting you to the wedding their family is having.
