Am I being cheap?

Original post by werock0709

I haven't gotten our Unity Candle yet, and I was looking online last night, and the one that I want was 54.99 . Not including the tapers, or holders. I'm making my own freakin Unity Candle. Michaels here I come. Vent over. Pheeeeeeeew!! Thanks girls.

Mel - you are not being cheap at all. It's so sad that just because a candle is attached to a wedding that the price skyrockets! If it was just a plain candle, it wouldn't be anywhere near $60.....but because its a unity candle for a wedding......well that just makes it worth so much more!

It's sad that so many companies do that to us. A wedding is expensive enough without companies jacking up prices because it's related to the 'W' word!

I'm sure your's will be much more beautiful than anything you can ever buy because it will be something that you put the time and effort in to create!

Not too cheap at all. I bought mine at Hallmark and even used a coupon for it. That is a lot of money.

You can go to Michaels and get a white pillar candle and tapers. Then get some rhinestones and put those suckers right on there with some ribbon- FABU!!!!

Ha....thats what I did with my Memory Candles. Pics are up. Except with my Unity Candle, I'll spoof it up a bit. With some sheer ribbon, and some Calla's. You'll see

Re: Am I being cheap?

that sounds kind of pricey for a candle!

i wish i was better at DIYs for some reason i end up spending more $ on them than if i had just bought it

I don't think you're being cheap at all. If I was crafty enough I'd make our candles, too. I seriously think it's ridiculous what they charge for some wedding stuff. Come on, it's a candle for pete's sake! It's wax!! I know it's something we'll keep for ever, but I honestly I think they rip you off on some things just cause it's wedding related. OK, my vent is over!!

I paid 10 bucks in supplies and make the candle myself. Check my album.
