Ok i want the whole princess in a castle wedding. So i want to get married at Oheka Castle. Is paying $35,000 just for the reception hall without any vendors or anything like that too much? Everyone keeps telling me to down grade.

everybody has different finances so all depends if its within your budget. But you worrying about is a good indication that maybe you shouldn't, seems like you know you would go over the budget if you do this. So its really up to you since you know best what your finances are.

If you're paying 35K for the RH, figure you're paying another 25-30 for everything else. Figure for Oheka (as compared to another RH) that you'll need fancier invitations, a fancier dress and veil, and definitely high centerpieces just to fit in with the overall level of the venue. If you can afford a 70K wedding, then I say go for it! But you can have a princess wedding at another venue without going crazy.

Re: Am I being crazy?
It's all about what you want to do. I initially was looking into a wedding at Castle on the Hudson....but decided to 'downgrade' and use this savings towards buying a house and new car. That being said, I LOVE the fox hollow and use the term downgrade, loosely. I KNOW our wedding will be spectacular there.
It's a personal decision and no one should judge you for it....just make sure FH is on the same page.

Wait...if you aren't paying for it, then you should let those who are paying set parameters.

Agreed. You need to talk to the people with the $$$$$. If they agree to it..then go for it.

Re: Am I being crazy?
Is it in your budget? Would you strain your budget or that of the people helping you out to have a wedding of that scale?
That said, I personally would not. If the reception alone were $25K-$30K, that's one thing--that's (unfortunately) in line with a lot of places in LI. If the site fee alone is that much, plus you'd have to pay for catering, no, I would not spend that much money regardless of how well I was doing financially.

if you're not paying for it, i would talk to the people that are. you don't want them to spend all their money for one day. personally, i would find a less expensive place and put money towards a house.

Re: Am I being crazy?
When you say its $35K, does that include service charges and gratuity? If not, you're looking at much more than $35K or a shorter guest list.

well if youre not pay for any of it then that is different sorry. First you need to sit down with them and find out what the budget is and they can tell you what the budget is and not you telling them how much they have to spend.

Re: Am I being crazy?
i think that you really need to evaluate what you want. we all have our own ideas of what a perfect wedding. if you are not paying for it the #1 thing to do is set a budget with the people who are paying for it. and if feel that what you are thinking of is going to go over that then belive me you can achive that some place else. its all the details that will make it the princess wedding of your dreams.....
