am I being ridiculous?
There is an upscale clothing store in my town that I've always loved the mannequin displays in the window...I have never stepped foot in the store, and it has been my dream to buy a dress from there for my rehearsal dinner.
I went today - tried on a bunch of dresses. Some are more expensive than others...
I found a Susana Monaco strapless dress there. Price: $269. (Cant find a pic online) I will also wear it in the honeymoon.
Is it ridiculous to spend that much on one article of clothing? I am a bargain hunter at Kohl's, and only when I have an additional 30% off coupon.
I have been cutting corners and bargain hunting in every way for this wedding... Don't I deserve to splurge once?
My mom is making me feel like a fool.
Please help!

Re: am I being ridiculous?
If you have the funds for that splurge and that splurge won't hurt you in the long run i say go for it. You only have onr RD so if you want the dress then why not

Re: am I being ridiculous?
I do have a bunch of cash in my room, which I plan on using for day-of tips, my alterations, and whatever else comes up...I could take it out of there. Or are there other nice dresses elsewhere for cheaper??
I don't know what i'm in love with more: the idea of buying a dress at that store or the actual dress.

Re: am I being ridiculous?
There's plenty of places. Maybe you can get a dress that looks similar to that dress you love?

Re: am I being ridiculous?
No...you definitely deserve to splurge on yourself for your wedding!!! Moms mean well but they also are really good at making you feel guilty....(sorry moms!!!). Enjoy what you bought and don't look back....it's not like you spend like this everyday!!!! It's like being on a diet and never having chocolate cake again....unrealistic to think you would never splurge and no harm done if it's once in a while!!

Re: am I being ridiculous?
Go for it. I'm also a bargain hunter, but the occasional splurge is worth it. And you'll get more than one use out of it - think of it as one less thing to buy for your honeymoon attire as well.

Re: am I being ridiculous?
1st of all.. u like it, BUY IT.. you're a big girl. u involving ur mother in a dress purchase is not necessary. and remember, its cost per WEAR, not actual cost per item. u can buy a 30$ dress wear it once... ur mom willbe ok with it..but god forbid u spend 260 on a dress... but if u wear it 9 times... it comes out cheaper than the 30$ dress.
u want it, buy it. life is too short.

Re: am I being ridiculous?
Thanks ladies!! I went and got it. I brought my mom to try it on for her, and she said 'that's it!'And I actually got a 15% discount on it, so that made me happier!
I'm telling FH that it was $100 less than it actually cost, if he asks... i just have to do a little extra tutoring to make up for it!
Thanks for all your input!!! Now I'm going to feel like $1,000,000 two days instead of just one! :)

I agree, I would wait for it to go on sale. Look at the economy, I think it would be on sale soon. Also try online! Go back and find the name of the dress and find somewhere that might sell it.
