Ok...So my engagment party is June 26th...My Fmil offered to help my parents...My mom wanted to throw it herself....but did not want to cause any problems....
So my mom told my fmil to handle the dessert...and papergoods....I am very anal...so my fmil said I can go wtih her and pick everything out, or I can go alone and give her the recipt. (which i know she would get mad).
I really want to go with my mom....It's different when you go with your mom do to things.....I know she will be upset If I told her that.....SHe would complain...
Am I being silly or would you feel the same way?

Thats a good idea, I would make it a day and have lunch etc.. then your mom and FMIL won't feel left out, and you'll have your mom, so not a lot of awkardness.. good call jen

There is a big age difference between 2 mothers...and totally different opinions....Personally I dont think they like eachother....Its very fustrating...But once again I always have to try please everyone...

Well i agree with the ladies above..make it all three and go for lunch after...You all are going to be family soon and it is time to put petty differences aside! If you don't want to make a day of it and still want to please everyone, well since you mom suggested that that you FMIL do the desert and paper goods...you go with your FMIL and do it....You are LUCKY to have FMIL who wants to help, who wants to be involved...some of us don't have that! So i would return the friendly gesture and make you FMIL happy and go with her! There are plenty of other things you are going to be doing with your mom

I know it's difficult, but I agree - make an event out of it and have your Mom join you. This way you will also be sending a message to your FMIL that your Mom is an important part of the planning. Good luck!!
