am I crazy?

am I crazy?

there is one dress from Alfred Angelo that I am DYING to try on. I have had my heart set on it since we got engaged, ok who am I kidding, I've been looking at it repeatedly for months. So, I called ALL over today and had no luck. I called Alfred Angelo's customer service (super nice by the way). The closest location that may have my dress to try on (I'd still have to call the store to find out) is 180 miles away in Clifton Park NY, um way past Albany! 180 miles!! Would I be crazy to drive 180 miles just to try this dress on? I am crazy even contemplating this right now? UGH! :(

Would it be ridiculous to do a road trip? Or is there a location they work with that can send the dress in closer to you for you to try on? Do you have a picture...?

I would love to post a pic but FH uses the account too. Hmm, I'll give the #, he won't have a clue, (I hope!) Its 2181. I'm sure you can find it online. I also love 2173 but found two stores in NYC that have it.

I was planning on going to the Connecticut store to try on dresses because I found there weren't many stores down here that had the dresses I wanted to try on.

So, no, I wouldn't think you're crazy for considering it.

Just think about if you really, really loved one of those dresses and decided to buy it from them. Then you would be making that trip often the closer you are to your wedding.
This was a deciding factor for me, I would have to do the drive of 2-2 1/2 hours at least 3 times before our wedding.
At that point, it seemed a bit much.

BTW, both of those dresses are beautiful! HTH!

Edited for spelling..

Thanks! I love them both but an obsessed with the first.. There is a store on LI that carries his line but doesn't have that dress to try on and they already checked for me, its not one that can be borrowed to just try on, I would have to order it from them to buy. So, if i love the dress I can order it down here on LI from a local store, I just can't find a store here to actually try it on first. I would hate to buy it and then hate it in person.

I also found it online at various sites for some pretty redic prices, like insanely cheap. I'm skeptical about them because they may no be legit places or a legit dress.

Re: am I crazy?

Before you take a long road trip, contact some local authorized Alfred Angelo dealers. See if they would be willing to borrow a sample for you. When I was making appointments I wanted to try a certain Maggie on, and Bridal Suite of Bayshore's consultant offered to have the sample of the gown I wanted to try on shipped in just for me to try. So my advice is to try calling locally to see if any salons can borrow a sample for you to try, before you treck all over the globe! :) HTH

Woops, looks like you posted this at the same time I posted suggesting to borrow it lol. Maybe still try other salons, that would be closer, to borrow?

I dont think you are crazy

but before you plan a road trip call all the stores that carry that designer around here .... some of them may be above to get the dress on loan from another place.

You're definitely not crazy but I wouldn't get the alterations done there (or even buy the dress there). Once you try it on, if you LOVE it and it is the one I'm sure a store on Long Island or in the city would be more than happy to order it for you.

Re: am I crazy?

Thanks. FH thinks I'm nuts (but thats not new lol). AA customer service said that RK didn't have it as a sample to try on, just the second one. One of the store on LI has a ton of AA dresses on their website but when I called to double check all I head was 'ding' for every AA dress # I gave over the phone. :( They had one out of 5 that I found on their website. I feel like its false advertising in a way but she explained they carry his line and can get any dress they make just don't have them in stock to try on. I dunno, I think I might make the road trip anyway. I do LOVE the dress, at least online anyway.

If I love it enough to buy it I'll DEF buy local, I might be crazy but I'm not that crazy!

Thanks ladies!!! I knew you guys could make me feel better about a 3+ hour road trip each way!!! I just have to remember to call the store first and make sure they def do have it. That would suck if I forgot!
