it's time to start wedding gown shopping and I want to go to 6 bridal salons to look for my wedding dress!?!?
Here's why....i want to go both those trunk shows posted about so that's RK and Bridal suite of Bayshore Then David's bridal simply bc they will have the most plus size dresses for me to get an idea about what I want Then bridal reflections bc my cousin works there then Burtons bc I've heard they have the best prices! and lastly klienfelds bc my grandma always dreamed of taking me there.... so in honor of her bc I know she will still be there from heaven I want to go there for her.
Am I nuts? how many stores did you shop around in?

I did 2. One was the white gown in Brooklyn and the second was RK Bridal, where I found my dress.
Do what makes you happy, but I would just be careful of overwhelming yourself! I only did 2 stores and I got a little twitchy. Many of the stores carry the same gowns.

I did 3... And by the second store I wasn't really into looking anymore because I was just frustrated. I was lucky enough I found the perfect dress in the third store.

are trunk shows really worth it? bc I could always eliminate those 2 stores if that aren't worth it....

Wondering the same about trunk shows! I think you should go to DB first to try on different shapes to narrow down what you're looking for. But I know you already have a dress in mind, so why not try that one on first? Hopefully you'll find a dress sooner than later so you don't end up having to go to all six stores. My family also wants me to go to Kleinfeld's but I'm too intimidated to!

I only looked in two. David's Bridal, I didn't take seriously. I just wanted to wet my toes in the dress shopping experience. Then Macy's in Manhasset and I found it there the first visit. You can look at however many you want! I mean it might be mentally exhausting but there's no right or wrong here!

I only went to three, but the first was with my MOH only as a trial to see what style I liked. I did end up going to a trunk show for Maggie Sottero because (after scoping dresses out with my MOH) I knew I loved MS dresses and figured if I was going to get one might as well get it on a sale! lol

so the big deal with trunk. shows are the sales..... are they really that good? idk how I feel about having to decide on such a shortb time frame... the skews are 3 or 4 days! id have to decide before the shows is over to get the sale..... idk. what size u were looking for but do you know if the MS show carried plus sizes???

I only did 2. I did DB just to get my feet wet (just like coffeeisgreen). I was able to rule out what cuts DID not look good on me. I ended up finding my dress at the Bridal Suite of Bayshore - but I went there 2 different times.
I agree with the ladies - do what makes you happy!

I also needed a plus size dress. I started at Davids bridal also but didn't find them helpful. Actually a lot of dresses come in sizes up to 28 or 30 without having a separate plus size collection. I went to 3 places and once I found an experienced consultant who could help me figure out what looked best on my body type I found my dress.

I personally found mine at bridal suite in Bay shore. I got a dress that was just discontinued so it was half off. It ended up being 450 plus alterations. Hope that helps!

I got my dress at Kleinfeld's, and I can honestly say it was the best dress shopping experience! I went on a wk day since I was in the city for a job interview anyway, and it worked out perfect bc they weren't too crowded or busy. I can't say enough about their service and professionalism. So if you're on the fence/intimated about going, don't be. My mother met up with me at the store, and she came straight from the hospital in her scrubs, and they didn't blink an eye, and made her feel very welcomed. No ego at all from them, or pushiness to make a sale.
What I do suggest is to go to their website and look up dresses in your budget, and print out their style numbers to bring along with you to your appt. That way they'll only show you the ones in your budget, and you won't get steered into buying the higher priced dresses. Also make your appt on a wk day. Less ppl and you get more time with your consultant, since they typically allot an hr and a half.
However, I did notice that when I decided to buy my dress, the second consultant that came in to help mine, at first suggested that I try the last dress that was left in my dressing room, but once she saw the price tag was less than the one I had on, told me to keep the one I wanted. lol It wasn't an issue though, since I loved the dress that I picked. But yeah, if you want to go there, just go. Even if its for the experience. Remember, you're the customer, and they work for your business. :) Happy dress hunting!

I just eliminated Burtons.... they don't carry mori lee or Alfred Angelo! would help if I checked that lol
I did two places. Davids bridal to get my feet wet with my MOH then seriously shopping with my parents and FMIL to kleinfeld where i found my dress. I wasn't crazy about my consultant but my overall experience was a very positive one :)

I did two places also. I went to David's Bridal to have some fun with the girls and to see what I liked. Then I went to Bridal Reflections in Massapequa twice. When I was there they were having a trunk show for the designer of the dress I ended up loving and the discount was pretty much the tax and maybe a few off the dress.
