Am I crazy?

I went to lilettes twice (and purchased from there), bridal reflections, bridal salon in manhassett, and village bridal. Had I not loved my sales girl at lilettes I probably would have went someplace else but I took a hunch and went back and tried on a new gown that had just got in and loved it. I don't think your list is too many. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything! Lol

I went to two, kleinfelds originally and told them my budget of 2,000. The sales woman was great and worked with me to find a style of dress I liked, however I found one that I loved for $3800 and their alterations cap at $795. They told me the dress was exclusive to kleinfelds and I left devastated that my dream dress was almost double what I wanted to spend. I did my homework and found out allure made the SAME exact dress for half the price. I ended up buying it at paradise bridal, which I've heard has some iffy reviews, but Stephanie was really helpful and sweet. So we shall see how it works out!

Two stores. I went to David's Bridal to get a feel for all different cuts because I felt they had the most varying sizes in store to try on. Then I went to Macys and ended up buying then and there and they happened to be having a trunk sale! It was 20% off the dress and the veil too!

I planned to go to a ton but ended up only going to two. On the same day. And fell in love with my dress. I was so happy but felt like that's it. I'm done!? I tried on six dresses in total. It's true what they say; when you know, you know. Don't overthink it and just have fun!!

Here's my opinion:

I went to a ton of bridal salons. I found a dress that I wanted to try on, but no where had it, so I kept trying to find something that would beat that idea that I had of that dress. I overwhelmed myself, and by the last salon, it didn't even feel 'special' anymore. Don't overwhelm yourself. You shouldn't go to a trunk show unless you know you want to buy a dress that day. They're overwhelming and usually the stores are even more packed than usual. The discounts are great, especially when you're on a budget (as most of us are), but it's better to find a dress you like without the pressure of a trunk show, and then find a place that is having that designer's trunk show and make an appointment with them. Make sure you tell them you're planning to buy a specific dress, that way they'll make sure to have the sample ready and waiting for you.

My last bit of advice is, don't go somewhere just to go. These consultants work their butts off to make commission, and I feel terrible that I wasted so many of their times with my indecisiveness. If you are going to look and POSSIBLY buy a dress or look for contenders, that's one thing. But to go just to go, it's like sitting at a table in a restaurant and sipping water for 45 minutes and then leaving. You've just wasted a slot where that person could have made $.

I went to 2 stores. One a discount place on route 110 just north of Adventureland on the same side of the street, and David's Bridal in Massapequa. Both had women who were great, but David's is where I found my dress and the ones for my bridesmaids.
Good Luck

I only went to one but that's because I went to vows in Boston and found the perfect dress.

I spent three weekends dress shopping and went to 11 bridal stores. I thought I found the one at the first shop, but decided it was not the one when adding beaded sleeves increased the cost by $700. I wasted a lot of time visiting stores that didn't carry my size so please call beforehand to find out if they carry your size. I ended up buying a dress that was completely different from what I envisioned, but it is a beautiful dress.

I don't think you're crazy - some people have patience for that. I am definitely NOT one of those people. I didn't even want to go dress shopping - I knew exactly what I envisioned. I went to one store, found it and bought it haha.

The one on 110 is NY bridal outlet in farmingdale. I got my dress there and they were totally awesome!

that is an excellent point!! thank you for your honesty!! and your description is what scares me about the trunk show.... however I do have my heart set on one Alfred Angelo dress so that's why I wanted to go to the trunk show.... still got allot to think about! but thank you again!!

I found my dress at BR on the first day, first dress. However, I went to several other places to try dresses on for fun and comparison. I had a great time and don't regret any of the time I spent trying on dresses. I ended up with the first one I tried on, but had a great time shopping. After all, how many times in life do you get to do this?!??! :)

@Msatomrsb, just a heads up... Paradise Bridal is horrible at any sort of follow up! They never called me in almost a year to say my dress was in. I ordered it Jan '12 and it came in Apr '12. THEY NEVER CALLED ME, NOT ONCE! I called them to check up on it a little less than a year ago. The manager told me they called me numerous times and left me many voicemails, not one call did I get. She proceeded to show me my folder which only had one date, the date my dress came in, not one date under phone calls made.

As a huge heads up, keep in contact with them. You will have to make the calls as they will not.

On the positive side, I too had Stephanie and she was great!

I did not want to go to a bunch of stores but wound up going to 4 stores, then went on my own and found 'the one' I would decide which store you want to go to first then go from there. But either way I say do what you want to do. :)

If you have your heart set on one dress, go try it on at the salon that is having the trunk show BEFORE the trunk show, that way there's no pressure to buy that minute. Most of the time, they'll either just apply the trunk show price if you do decide to buy then and there, or you make an appointment for during the trunk show and make it with the same consultant.

I did that with the Lazaro that I thought I'd love. Tried it on 3 weeks before the trunk show at BR. Ended up hating it, but I knew there was no pressure if I'd liked it, I could sit on my decision for 3 weeks before buying.
