I am considering doing my rehearsal the day of my wedding. Here's why. My wedding starts at 7:30 pm and the photographer will not arrive until about 4 pm.
I am getting married out in Woodbury. I live in Queens, my side of the family is from Jersey and out of the bridal party, we have 2 people coming from DC, 5 from Jersey, 1 from philly and 1 from Cali (the other 5 are local). I am worried that if I do a traditional Friday night rehearsal and dinner, everyone will need to take off work on Friday and spend an extra night in the hotel in Woodbury. So what I am thinking of doing is just a Dinner on Friday night at like 8 pm near where my fiance grew up (about 30 mins closer on LI ) and then just do the rehearsal the day of. This way people don't have to drive all the way out to Woodbury and will maybe only have to leave work a little early.
The timeline of the wedding day would be like this: 11:00 am Rehearsal 12:00 Lunch - I will provide food at the hotel next door 1:00 - 4:00 me and girls get hair and Make-up done at salon 1 mile from RH (some girls maybe can get their hair done before the rehearsal).
FMOH thinks I am nuts?
Anyone else think it will be too hectic the day of?

it sounds like its possible, the only thing that worries me is that you and hte girls have to drive to get your hair and makeup done, i think you have to allow for more time, but i am not sure.
I think if you had the hair and makeup people come to you and your girls right after lunch, it makes more sense for you sanity. You really dont want to be driving all over when ur crunched for time like that

It's completely up to you but I hear from so many past brides to not worry about other people because you'll end up killing yourself with the stress. Just wanted to pass along that tip

I am an 07'er crashing here but I thought I might be able to help.
I was supposed to have my rehearsal 2 days before my wedding but there was a blackout at my hall that day so it had to be canceled. We still had the dinner but no rehearsal. We had the same issue with alot of OOT bridal party.
On the day of everyone got ready as planned and there was a rehearsal about an hour before the ceremony. I did not attend and afterwards the priest and rabbi came to me and we did a separate rehearsal (the photographer stood in for DH)
Our rehearsal went smoothly though only because everyone was dressed and ready. If anything I would pad an hour into the schedule for you all to be ready because that day even if it feels like you have a lot of time, people are still late, hair winds up taking longer than expected, makeup too, etc.
HTH!!

Thanks!
Good Advice. I think I will talk to the OOT and see how much of a hassle it will be to come out to Woodbury the night before. If it is only a problem for a few of them, maybe I will just do it the night before and we can fill in the people that missed the practice the day of.
Unfortunately, the person I am most worried about having a problem coming to Woodbury and taking Friday off from work is my MOM!

I don't want to discourage you!
I think its totally fine to do it the day of but I would do it after everyone is dressed and ready to go. Like leave an extra hour before the ceremony...Even with a coordinator it was hectic for us on the day of before hand.
After you are ready though it's great to have something to do because you are just killing time and every minute feels like an hour! After the ceremony the day goes by in a blink!

I think that's a great idea. I think the day of rehersal is doable but I think you should be dressed and done already. It will save a lot of headaches that way. I know a lot of poeple who didnt bother with a rehersal at all because everyone involved had either already been in a wedding or had been to enough to know how it works.
do what YOU and your FH feel is best.

I agree. It is up to you. It is your day but sometimes you can't always worry about the oot guests. They know what to expect with weddings.

When I asked my BP (all out of towners) to be my BP, and they accepted and asked, 'what do you need us to do?' All I said was, 'I'd like you to wear Bridesmaid dresses, and make sure you can get to the wedding a day early for the rehearsal dinner.' Done. As BMs, part of their 'job' is to be at your rehearsal - I think they expected that when they accepted the job.
