So fh and i are having our ceremony in church but in order to do that FH has to go to confirmation....when we went to the church we had to lie if we had said that we live together my church wouldnt marry us or allow my FH to go to confirmation. IS THIS STRANGE? im getting married in a church is it horrible that we lied to the priest?

i never heard of the priest not letting you do something because you have premarital sex or already live together.....im not really sure why people lie i would assume that the priest rather you be honest....are you sure you had to lie?

lol ok so its not just me FH gave our address, and i gave my parents thanks ladies i feel better i was surprised to be honest i guess i should have known its church rite? and i would have messed up our church ceremony bc i didnt know if u want a religious ceremony u cant get married in city hall at least at my church

I actually told me priest everything and he was fine with it. He gave us a little lecture about living together but he dropped it and moved on. I do know that some parishes are a lot more strict and people might have to lie and I don't think you are evil for it.

in my church, when we went to sign up FH for confirmation and the priest was asking the other people if they have a marriage license and if they live with anyone and if so then they can not go to confirmation much less get married....whew i guess its a agood thing we lied when we went to save our date for the wedding....so i guess we had to lie right? i think its kind of dumb but ive been going to this church forever and want to be married there

is this a catholic church? are you sure they wouldn't have married you??? if you want to get TECHNICAL there is nothing SINFUL about LIVING TOGETHER. what if you were living together but not engaging in pre marital sex? ok ok - i know no one here is that stupid ... but really. its not the living together thats WRONG - its the assumption that you're engaging in sex before marriage BECAUSE you're under the same roof. honestly, i would find out if this is the case - i don't think they could NOT marry you. if it were me I'd find out and then i'd have a discussion with the priest and 'Confess' just for my own piece of mind. but i'm a nut job so

A lot of people lie so don't worry about it.
As for your FH making his confirmation -- he may not have to do it. At my parish we were told that we could have a mass even though FH wasn't Catholic as long as I signed something saying we would raise our children Catholic.

i dont understand why some churches let and other dont i mean if i want a religious ceremony and my church wont agree i would have just gone to a different church so it doesnt make much sense to me

yes its catholic and the priest made it veryyy clear! he like stressed it as if he knew we live together and wanted to hear it, they would not have married us and they can do it bc i know someone it happened to

i was just wondering if you really have to lie....i know girls who had kids before marriage and that were visibly pregnant and got married in a church.....i think its kind of silly that some churches make you feel like you need to lie - to me thats worse than having pre-marital sex....oh well! but anyway i dont think your evil at all!

i know someone who had to sign something like that too but that was in a different church not mine i guess my church is super strict just my luck!

I have to say no LOL Ive lied a couple times to a priest In order for my daughter to be baptized.... My brother (Godfather), my aunt (Godmother), and myself never made our communions or confirmations AND me and FH lived together and had our daughter before marriage.... We had to look like major sinners LOL!

i agree wit u MULLIGAN! its dumb to have to lie but it just means so much for me to get married in my church and i feel terrible lying! its soooo stupid so many people live together its not a big deal

our priest knows we are living together (he came and blessed the apt when we moved in) and he never said anything about it being wrong or anything. i've known 3-4 couples all of whom lived together pre-marriage and nothing was said.
