AM I going OVERBOARD?
We want our wedding which is on a tight budget to be special, and have a lot of special touches people will remember besides food and dancing.SO...Here are the things we are doing..I'm starting to think people will look at me like I had either way too much time on my hands or its a little overboard on the 'extra's'
Church: ( already made this all)
-Wedding programs
-Cry Packs
-Ribbon Wands( not allowed roses petals, rice, bird seed etc)
Reception:
-Votive place cards holders
-Menus
-Lotto ticket scratch off's and CD's as favors
-Memorial candle ( for those who have passed, lit by me and FH with a special song played)
-Bathroom basket
-Slipper basket in Bathroom
-Bottled water as leaving reception with personalized labels
-Polaroid guest Book
I think thats it....lol
Is it too much?

Re: AM I going OVERBOARD?
It is a lot but it will make your wedding truly yours! The only thing that I see as being a little too much is the personalized water bottles. They are already leaving with so much personalized stuff.

Re: AM I going OVERBOARD?
It was the details that people remembered from my wedding. So the little touches do matter. I have never heard of a slipper basket though.

I don't think it's a lot. I think the little things make the wedding. As long as you can afford it, I say go for it!!

Re: AM I going OVERBOARD?
I definitely do not think its too much, but at the same time do not drive yourself crazy with anything else -- what you've listed sounds incredibly thoughtful and creative.I think its lovely that you are incorporating so many details into your wedding!!
I was also on a budget but tried to do as many little things as I possibly could, even if they were more creative than expensive. And I have to say that even the things I thought would go unnoticed (such as jordan almonds, mostly for cultural traditions) were appreciate by my guests. Never underestimated the fact that guests really DO take notice of how much effort you put in the wedding.. but let me stres that they appreciate the EFFORT , and that doesn't mean you necessarily have to spend a lot of $$ to get the same end results
You are doing a great job!!!

It's not a lot. It's pretty much what I have planned too. I like the idea of the memorial candle and the special song. I've never heard of that before.

I never went to a weding with scratch off's... I do not know but if that was my wedding , and someone won ALOT of $$$ ... I do not know it would make me think..... We had custom wrapped hershey minatures, they were not too much $$, just an idea, we had other stuff to.

Re: AM I going OVERBOARD?
I agree with Julz about the water but other than that I think it sounds fine. Just beware that the bathroom touches will need monitoring in order to stay neat and go to whom they are intened..your guests. The memorial candle sounds like a great notion.

Nope I don't think its too much. I love all the little extras when I go to weddings. I love the bottled water idea. I think I'm going to steal it from you. :)

I never went to a wedding with the scratch offs either, discovered that idea on good old LIWs.
I wound up doing them at my wedding, and I gotta tell you they were the biggest hit of the reception!!! Everyone of my guests made it a point to tell me how great they thought it was. I also thought (for a second) how I would feel if someone hit big and would I be upset.. so we bought the $1 scratchoffs where the max you could win wasn't ENOUGH to make us envious
And luckily 99% of my guests I truly liked, so I wouldn't be upset if they won
