I just got engaged this past weekend. Am I crazy for starting to want to plan already?? Don't have an official date yet but Trying for next Sept. I know i should book a place now, but how about a photographer/ video/ flowers... all that stuff. also... i really really want photojournalistic photography, someone who is NOT going to be in my face at all times. Who is a great photojournalistic photographer out there?? im lila btw nice to meet everyone :)

Welcome and congrats!!! First, you are not crazy at all! I started researching right away, too. I got engaged mid-may and I knew I wanted June so I felt like I needed to get right on it. If you want september, I think you should start looking asap. September is an extremely popular month to get married.

Congrats! You aren't jumping the gun at all! I got engaged on a Sunday and four days later I was looking at reception halls! In about 2 and half weeks, we found where we wanted the wedding and I found my dress (total fluke that I found it so early since it takes me 12 stores to find a pair of jeans I like LOL).

congrats!!!!! Any of the girls on here will tell you that you are not crazy!!!!! Some of the girls on here started booking before they were engaged. I booked early for vendors and it worked to my advantage, as i got discounts and was able to stretch out my payments to afford better choices.

welcome and congrats! You are not crazy for wanting to start, I would start planning right away and booking vendors, especially if you want a specific one, certain people get booked very quickly.

Ha, I was the same way I just wanted to start planning. I'd say get your venue and photog down. From there you'll be in good shape:)

I have to say my FH was more ready to start planning then I was after it happened! I wanted to take in the moment enjoy the 'just engaged' feeling. FH followed my pace and by the following week we started to visit RH's. I wouldn't worry about everything else..the most important is your RH right now.

Congrats and WELCOME!! You're not crazy... you should have seen my spreadsheets, lists, etc. that i had ready about a week after I got engaged! FH wanted to kill me... but he knew it made me happy. Start planning!! Fall is a popular time, so definitely start researching and looking into places!!! Good luck!

If you are planning for next September, it's not crazy at all to start getting a head start on booking vendors and looking for an RH. Lots of vendors (esp. popular photogs/video, florists, and makeup artists) get booked way in advance so it's good to start looking into those vendors early.
Start thinking about what kind of wedding you both want, figure out your budget and an estimate of how many guests you will have, and then start looking at venues for youor reception/ceremony.

i booked my hall 3 weeks after getting engaged (april) and booked photographer, church, limos and dj already - oh and i got my dress 2 weeks ago -
you certainly aren't jumping the gun....
i'm holding off on florist and invitations until we have our guest list finished (end of the year is FH's deadline).
definitely get ahead while you can - dates book up FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!! (we had to take our second choice date -sunday - b/c our hall was booked for the friday and this was almost a year and a half in advance!)
