OK.....so FH and I are just about settled on a RH (Crescent Beach Club). We both LOVE the place but understand that a lot of the day relies on good weather. I like the facility also (regardless of view) but am afraid that maybe we are so blindsided by the gorgeous pictures, that we're not fully weighing the options. We looked at about 6 or 7 different halls and know that that is the one that we like the most. I guess my general question for everyone is whether or not they had doubts about the hall they ended up booking... I think i'm just paranoid, but i'm not sure. It's not so much 'doubts' as reservations about the location and the amount that we are paying for a view that may not be able to be used day of..... For those of you that have had your wedding or been to a wedding at the Crescent....have any of you had a bad day or experience overall... I would really appreciate the feedback.
Thanks Girls!!

Re: Am I just being paranoid.....
I loved the Crescent as well, I fell for the view, the pictures, the palm trees, all of it. I eventually ended up deciding againt it, even though it is my dream hall. For me, It does rely to much on the weather. I feel like there are so few indoor places to take pictures, what happens if there's a hurricane or something the day of my wedding. And for the money they wanted there, it just didn't balance. Where I did end up choosing (signing a contract Tuesday) I still get to be on the water, but for almost half the price. And I decided I can go still take pictures on any beach.
In the end the reason I did't choose it is because the onyl start afternoon weddings at 12 and my church wont do a wedding before 11. its 30 minutes from church and logistically just would not work.
Sorry this post proabaly didn't really help, but I think your reservations are realistic. Good Luck making a choice!

Re: Am I just being paranoid.....
I've been to the Crescent in the day and night... clear skies and storms. ANY weather, ANY time makes for a memorable view. I'm getting married there... it has been my dream place for about 8 years (before I knew my FH!).
The one thing I would say is, if you're working with a budget, do not pay more for time of year if you think that means better weather. You can book in July and it could be a storm the day of. We saved a little bit of money (about 40 a person!) by getting married in November instead of October. EVERY person I ask who has been to the Crescent as a wedding guest says it was the best wedding they've ever been to. It's a very impressive place, and it's very classy. It's run well, it's clean, the food is amazing... and the view makes you feel like you're on a cruise ship. Go for dinner at the Pine Island Grill or lunch at the Sunset Grill a few times this summer... I bet your doubts will go away. I can't WAIT for our wedding day at the Crescent. The pictures will be amazing - and the day will be memorable. I think you made a great choice!

Re: Am I just being paranoid.....
I haven't had any doubts about my hall, but I did look at 25 different locations before I found 'the one'. I had a food tasting before I booked because I wanted to make sure that the quality matched the ambiance (since food is what most people remember about a wedding).
I did have one other location in the running, but since making the final decision I have not looked back once.

Re: Am I just being paranoid.....
i don't know much about your RH choice--so i'll just address the question about having doubts in a hall choice
for FH and i--we walked into our hall and we just knew. it felt right to us. i don't know how we did--but we looked at each other and both felt that this was THE place that we wanted. loving the hall was very important to us because we were planning on marrying at the hall instead of a church. after sitting down with the BM, we definetely knew we felt the hall. at no time have i ever had any doubts whatsoever
now just cause we had 'that feeling' ...doesn't meant that ALL couples have that feeling. weight the options and see how you feel. even go see a few more halls just to be sure. just make sure that you are happy with your choice and not second guessing yourself later.

Re: Am I just being paranoid.....
I'll admit that I'm a little worried about the weather since I will be getting married outside at the Crescent Beach Club, but we knew immediately that was the place we wanted, and I didn't want to book a different place that I wasn't as happy with only b/c of the weather concerns... I'm praying for good weather, just not raining, we can deal with cold for a little while.... but all in all, I love the atmospher of the place, so I'm just waiting it out and praying for no rain!!

Re: Am I just being paranoid.....
I am also getting married at my hall and a large reason for me booking there was b/c of the outside wedding view. Having said that, I agree with the other poster who said that she walked in and just 'knew' it was the right place. What I have realized is that if I do have to have my ceremony inside it will still be amazing b/c I can do a ton of candels along the side if the aisle and it will be very romantic! HTH.

If you pick a reception hall with an outdoor area rain will be a problem, no matter where you go. Rain is always going to be a pain on your wedding day. I dont think that you should not book a reception hall you love just because it may rain, because what if it doesnt rain.

Re: Am I just being paranoid.....
We aren't having a 'hall' exactly, but the park does have a pavillion so I can understand your concerns about the weather. The first thing FH and I decided on when we got engaged was that we wanted an outdoor wedding. We went to Orient and just 'knew' it was where we wanted to get married. We didn't look anywhere else. Sometimes it just happens that way. If you love the Crescent, book it! Even if the view isn't what you expected that day, it will still be your wedding day and it will still be beautiful!

Thanks girls!! I didn't even have to walk in to know that 'this was the place'...we LOVED it just off of the website. But......i'm just second guessing myself now that what if we book...and it rains.... I feel like i'll get a 'I told you so' from my dad.... Go figure!! He's obsessed with westbury manor (which is gorgeous....we just had a bad experience there while looking at it that turned us off from the location) THanks for all of the input!!
