I scared that we won't be able to get much for this kind of budget...FH refuses to up this area because to him flowers die - to spend all that money for five hours - and I agree but at the same time I don't want to have this area look like we 'cut our budget'...
I would need about 20 cps 8 BM bqts My bouquet
No boutaneries (sp) FH doesn't want them, no corsages for parents - they don't want them, don't think I need anything for church bc its the day after thanksgiving and they have arrangements left there from mass the day before...
Help...are we really kidding ourselves or is this possible

I think that's definitely possible... I think it all depends in what you want and what you are looking for... Also, let florists know what your budget is. A good florist will try to work with your budget and let you know exactly what you are getting.

Another low cost option...my friend got all her centerpieces from the florist at WholeFoods. $30 each including the vase!

Check out the Commack Wedding Center... I popped my head in there the other day quickly and he quoted me $70 for a really nice, long and low centerpiece... $125 for my bouquet and $50 each for the BMs.... ive got to go back and look at pictures because their 'display' wasn't really grand, but good to know... espeically if flowers arent THE focus of your day....
yup...that's who i'm using for my flowers. (and photog and video, and more stuff) their florist only does weddings.

MJDoc,
Did they have a more extensive book for you to look through for flowers? or was it just that room with the 6 CPs on display?
thanks!

I believe it's possible... My friend got engaged this weekend, and I'm helping her plan a wedding for $5,000.00. ( She's having the ceremony& in the private room at my restaurant(I don't own it I manage it, so I was able to discount -give it to her at cost)
I spoke to a florist we're doing her Bo-k & the BP's for less than half of that

Yes, this is definitely possible, my FH's sister just got married and used Hedgecock (spelling?) and for $1500.00 she had the church, boutaneries, corsages, bouquet and for BM, center pieces and arrangements on fireplace mantel and in bathrooms (i think the bathrooms, I don't remember for sure)

that's a pretty pic....but if you could check out places like michael's or ac moore (fantasy floralland in patchogue too) and you could save $$ by just buying the vases yourself instead of using ones that the florist charged you.
as for the other poster who asked about what other flowers...they have all kinds of flower there...i personally just love roses and asked it all be roses, when we got the quote.
You'd be surprized with what yuo can get at Ikea & for great prices too@!

Centerpieces make up the majority of the floral budget. I have been to 11 different florists and gotten price quotes for low CP from $60 to $100. Almost all the florists quoted me $85 for bridal party bo-ks.
Since you are getting married in November you might want to consider potted mums in full bloom. The supermarkets all sell them for @ $8.00, I can't imagine a florist charging $60, and then add some votive candles around it.
$85 for bm bo-k's. That's a lot. My MOH's is $50 I asked for hers to be bigger and have different flowers. The BM bo-k's are $35
Considering Flower Michele quoted me $120 each for BM bo-k, I consider $85 inexpensive!

ooo...good one! forgot about them. another place you could check out is a local restaurant outlet/warehouse store. you can check the yellow pages for it...a lot of times they have discounts on not just restaurant supplies, but the vases, and glasses used a lot of times for table set-ups and such.

If you go the candle route, who do u get to do the setup? Would the reception hall take care of it?

Re: Am I kidding myself
My sister used burtons, I'm not sure what she paid, but was around $1,000, she had really nice cp, they were pumpkins (she used those new foam pumpkins, and bought them herself), and had fall flowers in them. Burtons did a great job. I'm using Maggie and Faith in Islip, only because the cp's were included in the package at the Bayview House and she is doing them, so I figured I'd use her for all the flowers.

If you go to Wes Design or a place like that you'll get better prices from IKEA (I manage a restaurant , I've compared)
