I scared that we won't be able to get much for this kind of budget...FH refuses to up this area because to him flowers die - to spend all that money for five hours - and I agree but at the same time I don't want to have this area look like we 'cut our budget'...
I would need about 20 cps 8 BM bqts My bouquet
No boutaneries (sp) FH doesn't want them, no corsages for parents - they don't want them, don't think I need anything for church bc its the day after thanksgiving and they have arrangements left there from mass the day before...
Help...are we really kidding ourselves or is this possible

Re: Am I kidding myself
I see you're getting married at WM... Have you talked to Bobby Suss-kolyer? He did the flowers for our wedding. Tell him what your budget is...he'll be more than happy to work with you.
EVERYONE raved about our flowers! He did such an amazing job.

I think it is possibe. Talk to ChristineAE about National Floral Wholesalers.
i went to national floral wholesale and they gave me a complete wedding package, with more stuff than what you are looking for (like throw away BoK, FG basket, mother's corsages, bouts., and CP's) and they quoted me about $1000 (if i paid cash they wouldn't charge tax), and that included set-up and delivery.
the pkge was mostly roses, but you should check them out. i didn't use them because i found a wedding boutique that gave me flowers with my package.

they quoted you $1000 for 20 centerpieces?? Its not that I don't believe you, its just that I always read these great deals people seem to get from them and i was quoted DOUBLE that for 16 centerpieces, 9 bouquets and a few bouts...no church flowers or anything else. It just irks me with them..
Good luck with national. Maybe they will work a deal with you!

wow...really? that stinks! it wasn't for 20 CP's, but i believe my quote included the following: 16 CP's (low) - (2 dz. roses in each) 1 Bride BoK 1 Throw Away 1 MOH BoK 3 BM BoK 2 Mother's Corsages 1 FG Basket All boutinerres - roughly about 6-7 Delivery, and Set-up for approx. $999
I brought in the ad they have in the bridal magazines, where they give you a complete wedding package for $899, and took out some things and added others, and so she gave me the $899 price for my wedding, and $100 for delivery.
I've heard the same thing, that some people say they got totally different rates from them, but it doesn't hurt to try and see if you can be one of the lucky ones to get that kind of deal.

Just out of curiosity...what other flowers if any do they use besides roses? I heard when we went searching for a florist that roses were the new carnation and that they're very cheap and common.

You may want to consider alternatives to flowers such as candles, etc.

Re: Am I kidding myself
What if you spend the $$ on fabulous Bouquets, and make the focus of your centerpieces Candles w/ flowers as the addition ?? - that could save a lot ...

Re: Am I kidding myself
Thank you everyone I'm going to make a few phone calls to set up some appointments...
I definately want to take candles into consideration for cp's as well something like this... it may end up costing me as much if not more bc of how many vases are in the arangement...
that's a pretty pic....but if you could check out places like michael's or ac moore (fantasy floralland in patchogue too) and you could save $$ by just buying the vases yourself instead of using ones that the florist charged you.
as for the other poster who asked about what other flowers...they have all kinds of flower there...i personally just love roses and asked it all be roses, when we got the quote.

Re: Am I kidding myself
Centerpieces make up the majority of the floral budget. I have been to 11 different florists and gotten price quotes for low CP from $60 to $100. Almost all the florists quoted me $85 for bridal party bo-ks.
Since you are getting married in November you might want to consider potted mums in full bloom. The supermarkets all sell them for @ $8.00, I can't imagine a florist charging $60, and then add some votive candles around it.

Re: Am I kidding myself
Check out the Commack Wedding Center... I popped my head in there the other day quickly and he quoted me $70 for a really nice, long and low centerpiece... $125 for my bouquet and $50 each for the BMs.... ive got to go back and look at pictures because their 'display' wasn't really grand, but good to know... espeically if flowers arent THE focus of your day....

$85 for bm bo-k's. That's a lot. My MOH's is $50 I asked for hers to be bigger and have different flowers. The BM bo-k's are $35
