Am I looney if...

I fly a photographer in from Chicago? I just can't seem to find anyone I love here...

Its only $700 additional...drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things...I mean obviosuly i'd rather not spend another 700 bucks but if its happy vs settling?

if money is not an issue and it is something you absolutley have to have then i say got for it. dont regret not having what you want bc of the price as long as it wont put you into debt.

i think you should absolutely love your wedding pics so if this is gonna do it then go for it. maybe you can cut corners else where.

for my budget, yes that would be a crazy thing to do... that $700 could pay for my invitations (or something else of that value, but i know everyones priorities are diff)... i personally wouldnt do it...i think before you make that decision, you really need to research more photogs around here... there are tons within the area... even ones in the tri-state area is prob a better decision than flying one in!

Yup, shes booked, as is Punam Bean, my second choice. Everyone else i've seen I feel like takes the same photojournalisticy pics...theres no creativity to it...

and its still cheaper than some I have considered in NYC...so.....?

Might I make a suggestion? You might hate him, but, he's worth a shot. I wanted to book him but he was too pricey for us. His name is Jeff Tisman and he works out of NJ.

And also is Thomas Paul not expensive? The person I know using him is paying 7K!

I love his work but even with the travel, the guy I like in Chicago is only 5700, including the album.

It is not crazy BUT if something happends to the flight...bad weather etc you may not have a photographer...that would make me a little nervous!

i was actually going to do this with photographers from Ohio

i would be careful bc when i was walking with the photogs from Ohio, they wanted to come to the rehearsal dinner and they wanted to be guests at our wedding! as in they wanted to sit at the tables with the guests and have us pay for them! they also made me feel like i was going to have to take care of them the entire time they were here since they were coming from out of town

just be careful and ask them what is in their contract - they might also want you to pay for their hotel too!

Oooo thats a very good point and definitely something to consider. Would he fly in the day before or day of, then i would definitely give it alot of thought. Flights get delayed and cancelled all the time.

can i make a few suggestions that are similar to what youre looking for, bc i looked at the site and the pics are AMAZING i will say so i dont blame you for considering it but just in case you want to search more photographers in NYC

have you looked at Henry chan's work, go to his blog his pics are amazing. My friend used him. His site is henryshoots.com

also check out something in blue, their pics are very different and stand out, its somethinginblue.com. They are more pricey than henry chan though so you might want to look him up first, his price is listed on his site

his total package is $5500, which includes 10 hours. it does NOT include albums, but he gives you a proof album of 400 touched up pics and he gives you all the digital images from the wedding

You should check out my photographer. Her pictures are beautiful, she is a 2008 pick The Knot best of weddings for photographers. She is a photojournalistic photog with tradional pics on request. FM if you want her website and more info.
