Am I Over-Reacting?- Vent

Am I Over-Reacting?- Vent

Ever since we got engaged me and FMIL have had the same convo maybe like 20 times? She wants to know the wording on the invite. I told her I want 'Together With Their Parents' because I have a divorced family and I don't want to make anyone feel left out and I don't want any fights. FMIL suggest I put ' Together With Her Parents and Steven's Parents Mr. & Mrs.' To me that's just too much IDK why its so important for her to have her name on the damn invite.

They aren't paying for the wedding, but they will be giving us a 'generous' present I feel like she feels she has input on everything. She doesn't want loud music or shes going to go home, she wants her name on the damn invite, etc.

So I ordered the Invites and I knew it was coming because she started off the convo 'While I have you two together' (because if she talks to me alone there will be a fight because she seems to be a lot nicer and bites her tounge when FH is around) and then proceeded to ask how we worded the invite. I said we did ' Together With Their Parents' and she was like well why isn't our name on it, blah blah blah. Like why did she have to start? What was the point? People know who our parents are get over it!

Sorry it was ind of long

*Yea well for my Engagement party they paid for it. It had to be at the Hall they wanted the only thing I had control over was the color and flowers. She redid her engagement ring after I got mine to a 7 karat ring that is insainly huge and obnoxious. I had a fit she got it the day before the party, so I told FH she wasnt allowed to wear it and she did. Not only did she wear the damn thing she kept shoving it in people's faces all night yelling 'Like my ring?'

**And when throwing us the engagement party she was all over it like make sure it says our names (just her and FFIL)

No I totally dont blame you at all - shes trying to make this wedding about her. This is your and FH's wedding - thats it. You dont have to please anyone else.

Give her a pair of earplugs at your RD and tell her to shut her yap too hahahaha

I understand your point of view, her suggestion for the invite calls attention to your parents being divorced. What percentage of the wedding is she paying for?

I wouldnt worry the invites are already ordered so if shes smart she'll realize shes wasting her time complaining about whats already done. in the end shes probably just gonna be so overjoyed and excited that day that her son is marrying you she wont care about wording on an invite

wowo, effin annoying and so petty!!

I am completely on your side on this one. GET OVER IT! Especially since you're not paying!

I'm also doing 'together with our parents' even though FH's parents aren't directly contributing (giving us a wedding gift the day of)

I'm sorry, missy. That is friggin annoying but you are not in the wrong.

did your FH agree with you on the wording? or did he take FMILS side? did he try explaining it to her> maybe she would shut it if it came from him?!

FH's parents and my parents also would not have had their names on the invite if they did not contribute to the wedding, but they did- so they are!

Only if she is paying for it should it be on there.

She needs to get over it

This FMIL seems to think its her wedding and you just happen to be wearing the white/ivory dress, make-up, jewelry, etc. Just plan without her knowing and let her be surprised when she sees the results... Sorry you have to go through this...

Oh my goodness that is so annoying...you should have been the only one showing off your e-ring! That would bust my buttons completely! Tell her to get over herself! I feel sorry that you have to deal with her behavior! You can vent at anytime love!

Re: Am I Over-Reacting?- Vent

then forget about her...sounds like she just wants to be the center of attention
