Am I really ThAT crazy?

Am I really ThAT crazy?

Our engagement party is two weeks from tomorrow. All I have been talking about for the last 5 months is having a 'cupcake cake' at the party. So far, 2 places have quoted me about $500. Would you spend that much on a cake that you really really want, or am I crazy?

Honestly, I would say so. then again, I don't know how much work they actually put into making cupped cake, as opposed to a regular cake. My suggestion is shop around to a couple more places, and make your decision by Wed, the latest. Hopefully, you'll find a place more economical, and get exactly what you want. However, if you can't find anything cheaper, you have the extra cash to spend and don't mind it, then by all means, go for it! You'll be glad you did everytime you see the cake at the party.

Good luck.

Hmmm honestly I wouldn't spend that much $ on a cake for an engagement party. You could get several cakes that might taste much better (different varieties of cakes for different tastes) from excellent bakeries for a lot less. If you don't care about the $ at all, go for it, but with 3 mos. til my wedding I can say there are a lot more things I would rather put that amount of $ towards. Good luck, it'll be a great party either way!

I say 2 days before the E-party you have a bake-off. Make it yourself.

GREAT IDEA!! Get all the PTA moms to help you, theymake them all year long and this way, the cake would be a joint effort!

I was going to say the same thing . I bet you can find directions of the best way to make one if you did a google search. Get a few friends together and the moms and have a baking party. Everyone will help and you will appreciate it more because you made it with your own hands and saved like 400 bucks if not more

I think that's a bit pricey for a cake, but that's JMO...

Re: Am I really ThAT crazy?

Thanks for the advice girls... I am going to call a few more places before I give up though. I would LOVE to make the cake myself, except for the fact that I am domestically challenged ;) I'll keep you updated!

I definitely think it's pricey, if your domestically challenged why don't you see if you can get someone you know to make it for you, maybe they can make it as an engagement gift, good luck!

I would definitely not pay that much. JMO
We couldn't afford it for our engagement party. I spent 65 on a cake and loved it!!!

If you are set on cupcakes...here is my suggestion. Get maybe a few pieces from them (I have no idea how it works) and make some filler ones. More plain ones to fill the cake itself.

I am probably not saying this right.....FM me

If I loved it that much, I think I would save it and use it as a wedding cake, and just have a nice cheaper cake for my e-party. JMO.

I like this option. Any special order cake/anything will be costly so I would save it for the wedding and wow everyone there!

Did you try BJ/Prixw Club? Maybe they can make all the cupcakes and you and some friends can set them up at the party hall?

I just love the whole cupcake cake concept!!
