Am I the only freak not having a sweetheart table?
FH won't allow us to have a sweetheart table. He is insisting with sit at a regular table with a handful of bridal party members. I'm so hating this idea and it's just like a no-win situation. It makes me realize how much he hates to be alone with me or something

don't be sad. DH really focused on being with his friends for our wedding too. and honestly, it even bothered me DURING the wedding. Like, they put us in the bridal suite alone together to eat and relax. . . and after two seconds he was like why the heck are we in here alone lets go out there? and i was really hurt.
Okay, I am not helping at all am I - I am sorry but I would try to get hte sweetheart table bc besides our two slow dances. . .it was the only time we were alone together and able to take it all in without him trying to run away from me. . .

I would push for it. That was the only time DH and I got to talk the whole day. When we were in the bridal suite, our friends and family were there too. At our suiteheart table,we got to watch everyone dance eat and have a good time. Insist on it!!

Honestly, you will not have a time to be alone with your FH regardless of where you sit...at least I didn't and I was okay with it, because we had the whole night and our honeymoon to discuss and break down every detail. We were so focused on enjoying ourselves at the wedding. We wanted to sit with our bridal party, but couldn't because it would be a table for over 20 people if we sat their bf/gf/dh/dw etc. But we must have sat down for a total of 2 minutes...honestly. Neither one of us got to eat or drink. We spent the night on the dance floor. But if we did sit, it would have been fun to take in the excitement that everyone around us is experiencing as well....so look it at from the bright side. Hope this helps.

I'm having a sweetheart table but that is what my RH said, I don't know if we could change it if we wanted to or not. Yeah the only time we will be sitting is to eat and then we are mingling and dancing and whatnot, so don't worry!

If you are not going to have a sweetheart table, and want to sit with BP members, PLEASE allow their dates/spouses to SIT WITH YOU!!!!!!!!
It really makes it a more pleasant evening for your BP members & their dates/spouses to be able to sit together. IMHO, its the considerate thing to do.
Once the ceremony is over, the BPs major duties for the day are over. I hate seeing the BP separated from their dates. I have sat at a table with the wife of a GM, and while she did have a nice time at the wedding, all she really wanted to do was share the night with her husband.
The 1980s style bridal party dais is a little outdated in my opinion.

if you want to convince him to have a sweetheart table, tell him that honestly there really is no point to sit with your bridal party because you wont really even be sitting. It's not like youre going to get to hang out with them at the table alot. We barely got to sit down at all. We did in the beginning just when we had to wait for the speech and then after the speech we didnt sit the entire night. We didnt even get to sit for dinner lol, some couples do get to sit for dinner though.

Ally you are NOT a freak !!! I have been to many weddings where the bride & groom sat either w/ BP or their families. I would actually prefer it but we would need one huge table.

I agree. DH was a groomsman in a wedding 2 weeks before our own, and the bride and groom sat with the bridal party but not their dates. i sat off at a 'dates' table with the spouses and fiances etc and I was really sad to be separated from DH, especially since I couldn't sit with him at the (long, full mass) ceremony.
For us, it was easier to sit at our own sweetheart table because our BP would be way too many people. We sat the bridesmaids at a table to one side of us, and the groomsmen at a table to the other side, and sat them with their dates and close friends. We were very close to them (probably as close as we would have been had they sat at the end of a long dais) and it let them have a better time too. We also had a great view of the room

Yeah we're not having a dias or anything like that. Do people still do that? We would be at a regular table with our MOH and her hubby, BM and his wife and various bridal party members and their dates. We'd NEVER split people up. that's horrible.

I agree! I don't plan on sitting much at my wedding except maybe during a couple speeches/ toasts other then that I'll not be at a table! other then visiting people. We are having a sweetheart table- FMIL wanted us to sit at her table and have my parents etc... I would fight for your sweetheart table! at least you have a place that is 'yours and his' to maybe for 2 minutes sit at and be 'alone' and not forced to be at a table and completely engulfed in a convo.

Re: Am I the only freak not having a sweetheart table?
I'm having an old fashioned dais and I was in a wedding on the 6th where we all sat at the old-fashioned dais and I couldn't sit with my fiance...I didn't have a problem with it, I still spent a lot of time with him and we danced the whole night..the couple who got married spent most of the time talking with each other. Honestly, I think the bridal party will know not to be obnoxious and keep interrupting a couple's conversation...especially on the couple's wedding day

Re: Am I the only freak not having a sweetheart table?
My FH wants to sit with our best man, my MOH and her husband, and some other 'select' friends. At first I was ok with this, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it would be difficult to choose who we sat with. I mean, I would HATE for anyone to think we chose certain people over others. and now that we have almost all of the rsvps in, or have a good idea of who's coming and who's not, it really works out much better if we just sit by ourselves. I think I have almost convinced him. I did tell him we were really not going to be sitting down much at all.
ally, you are not alone!

Re: Am I the only freak not having a sweetheart table?
originally we werent going to sit alone...it was going to be us two, moh and her date (who happens to be a gm)...and the best man. but he isnt bringing a date so we thought it wouldnt be that fun for him to sit with 'couples'.
if u cant change his mind...just keep in mind a bigger (reg table) for u and dont put that many people at your table (u might only want people to the sides of u so all the guests and u can see everything)....and if this is what u do...make sure to set aside some time after the ceremony or during the ch to be alone (just the two of u).

Awww I wish I had a dias! It just seems tradiotional and more fun. It's not an option at our place though. I really don't want it to just be us and my df doesn't like how we'll be the center of attention - I want our party w/us but it won't happen. They'll just be at a table next to us instead!

Re: Am I the only freak not having a sweetheart table?
We didn't have a sweetheart table - neither of us wanted one so we sat with the Best Man and his wife, the Man of Honor and his partner, and we each picked one couple to join us as well. Our bridal party was spread through out the room. It worked out just fine.
