am I the only one?

Original post by LaurenluvsTJ

Not to offend anyone at all, believe me, I respect and love everyone here... so after that disclaimer,
Am I the only one who doesn't find it necessary to get all these 'little' things? Like personalized everything - matchbooks, stamps, cocktail napkins, whatever? Its just that they might not be that much $$ each, but everything starts adding up, and I don't think anyone really notices those things.....
Am I alone in this? Will my wedding not be 'personal' enough without these things?

we're not doing any of that - its nice but adds up and and we just didnt have the money or time. I also dont know how much the guests notice.

We're not doing anything monogrammed. We're doing a wedding favor for every couple - it's a placecard holder/candle holder and that's it. That's it. Less expense, less hassle, and all the way a good deal better!

I am doing personalized matches and that is probably all except for my favors.

You are absolutely right. Even though things may not seem that expensive everything does add up.

No, you're not wrong. I ordered some cocktail napkins for us, and wanted to get matching coasters, but really, did I need to buy them? No way, it was all adding up to be too much and I nixed the idea.

If I'm at an even that doesn't have personalized things (matchbooks, mints, etc) I don't notice they're not there. I only notice when they are and think 'that's cute.'

I'm with you! The little things are nice if you have the time and budget, but I'm going to be lucky if I finish major things...like flowers

No you are not alone.

It is just not my style (or in my budget) to do all the extras. FI and I are paying for EVERYTHING, so the smaller things aren't that important to me.

I think it is great when brides go out of their way to do the little extras.

I'm pretty much just focusing on the things I've seen done at other weddings (and well, the things my mom-floral centerpieces-and my FH-extra hour are asking for).

So that being that, we're doing Save the Date letters with hotel info, OOT bags, flower centerpieces (instead of candles) and most likely an extra hour.

I feel that there is so much you can do and get for a wedding and everything surrounding it, you can't do all so I'm just picking what's important to me and the other people who are closely involved (my FMIL hasn't insisted on anything yet other than increasing the guest list).

I also feel that prior to being a bride to be, I really only noticed the food, drink and entertainment (not necessarily in that order).

We aren't either. We save for the important things!

I'm with you...My mother even had to convince me that I really did need some sort of card box.

I seriously just don't have the energy for that stuff. I can barely coordinate the major things to 'match' let alone napkins and such...
