am i the only one...

who's not having an engagement party? i've actually never been to one, and it never crossed my mind to have one, but after being on here, i was surprised that so many of you girls are.

am i missing out?

honestly i'm soooo happy we had one. We were thinking about not having it but i'm glad we did. it was lot of fun.

the only reason i had one was bc my dad got really sick with cancer and i know he wont get better and the odds of him being at the wedding are slim to none, so i wanted to give him an opportunity to celebrate since im the only girl and for everyone to get to see him

We are not having one either we could not afford it due to the whole expensive wedding process.

Same here. Our only option is to do a BBQ in my aunts backyard but, a small one with family and BP this summer.

We are having a very small one at my house just so that our families can get to know each other better and so that we can ask the rest of the bridal party. We only invited close friends and family.

We didn't have a party but we had two dinners, one with friends and one with families. It wasn't expensive... my mom cooked for my friends and we were just so excited to celebrate and share the news with everyone.
i dont think you have to do it but, i'm happy we had the people closest with us celebrating the big step in our lives.

oh wow... i'm so sorry about your dad, but that is a really sweet gesture- i'm sure it meant a lot to him!!

We had one. Our mantra was you only do this once and we wanted to celebrate and enjoy our engagement. Since we have been together for 5 1/2 years I made a whole through the years memory board of pictures of us, one of us and our families, and one with all of our friends! It was a huge hit!!!!

We thought about it and would have love to have one but the finical issues for us and putting more on our guests we felt was unfair. A lot of FHs family lives out of country and more than 1/2 bridal party is out of state. We had a lovely dinner with both immed. fams and that was nice. Plus many sent gifts and cards just from hearing we were engaged.

i didnt have one...i was actually going to but..it was too expensive..it is fun..but i cant afford it...a wedding is enough for me:)

N o no your not the only one...
we KINDA are... OUr wedding is going to be min 250..def more like 300. There is NO WAY we could have a real engagement party... honestly, not that I really felt the need to. I have always felt that weddings cost so much money and I dont want people resenting spending $$$$ on my showers and parties and wedding and etc...
Then my parents wanted to just have an engagement dinner with close family/family friends and my bridal party and dates... so its like a 55-60 person party at a nice restaurant upstairs room. It is next weekend so I will tell you if it was worth it then.
But ya know what... you are going to have a beautiful wedding so engagement party/shamgagent party... your wedding experiences will be amazing....dont worry! xoxo
