...who has no desire to register for fancy schmancy dishes and crystal blah blah blah?
I need plastic cereal bowls and preferably with robots LOL.
Kidding. Sort of.
But seriously, we are not fancy people. Getting married isn't going to change that.
I'm just not doing it!

Re: Am I the only one...
I'm not. I wasn't even planning on having a shower bc I have pretty much everything already. I could care less about china and stuff like that so don't plan on registering for it or crystal or any of that stuff.

I never wanted any of that stuff, but then I started looking at china patterns online and I kinda fell in love. I don't know if we'll actually register for them though since honestly, how much formal entertaining do we really do?
You don't have to register for any of that though! I'm more excited for cooking/baking gadgets and FH is excited to register for tools and stuff. He wants to register at Home Depot if possible! So register for what YOU want!

Re: Am I the only one...
We're not registered for any china or anything silver. It absolutely is a waste (for us). We don't entertain people ... and if we do, they won't judge us for using non-china.
We also live in a one bedroom apartment and don't have extra storage room for that stuff.
it's absolutely not necessary for us ... i'd rather get better things like robots

Yea, I think it depends on the couple. No one is going to look down on you for not registering for china. We probably will, since we do like to have people over for dinner, etc., and for holidays. We will probably use fancy china for those occasions. I am not registering for crystal or anything like that though. I break all of my glasses and it's just not necessary for us! I am more excited for gadgets, sheets, towels etc!!!

Well we dont use stuff like that either and FH is TOTALLY not into gettint it... . BUTTTTT I mean, I am trying to think into the future and not in the now. In the future, I do want to host family events, etc. It would be nice to have this china because we would NEVER buy it for ourselves, and its something we will always have. It never hurts to have some nice china in case you want to be fancy for some reason.

Re: Am I the only one...
Both fh and I are pushing 40 and have both had our own kitchens for a looong time. We registered for heavy duty white porcelain dishes that we can use for every day AND entertaining. White looks good with any color so you can change your look as the years go by.

Re: Am I the only one...
We are not registering for fancy China, however I did register for casual china that I will use for special occasions only. Its from BBB and it called LENNOX VIBE. Check it out. It comes for service for 6 in each box ($179) and also with the gravy boat, sugar bowl, platter etc. you can buy with it. Its plain and white but its nice enough to use for a formal dinner I think. I feel that its a complete waste to have people spend about $120 for a place setting when you can do a casual dinner set with all the extras for about $600 as opposed to over 2k!

I think it's a waste of money because personally, I am NEVER going to use them!! I rather have some everyday dishes and useful things instead of expensive things! JMO!

Re: Am I the only one...
I'm not, FMIL left me her 12 set china from 1948. So that is one thing I didn't have to do. I'm 42 and hate to cook, so a lot will be left off.

Umm...I'm registering for Rock Band. That's what I am most excited about!!!
We don't need the fancy servingware; it's just not very 'us'. We will be registering for a couple of higher-priced small appliances because I love to cook and have a few things on my wishlist. But that's because we'll actually USE these things. I don't want to register for things that we'll never use...I'd rather just buy it down the line if it's something I see us using, KWIM?

Re: Am I the only one...
i did not register for formal china, just casual china. i know i would probably never use it and it would be nice if people instead of spending so much money on one place setting they could get something else that i would really need off my registry
