So I am still trying to book a photographer but after seeing more than I would like to admit I would like to know how it is possible that some places will not allow you to meet your photographer until after you have signed a contract. What if I then ended up with someone I didn't click with and had to spend most of my wedding day with? So am I the only one with thinks this is a little weird?

no, that is one of the main reasons I didn't book with a few places. i want to know WHO I like BEFORE I agree to pay...I don't like the idea of being assigned whichever photographer is available on my day.

Yea I def wanted to meet my photographer before we booked. My sister didn't meet her photographer beforehand and the lady was nasty. She got good pics which i guess is the whole point, but she ended up getting into a fight with my BILs stepfather.

My photographer actually offerred a discount if you booked w/her and didn't need an intial consultation. I went through referrals and fell in love w/her work. I'm confident in her work - not worried about anything else.

I know Duet you meet the photographer of your wedding when you get your engagement pics taken. I think it is important to meet the photographer before the wedding in order to make sure your personalities gel.

That is what we loved with Artisan. We met with Chuck (the owner & our photographer) and he was so personable and it was great knowing who we will be dealing with.
I've been in too many weddings with rude photogs & that's not something you want to deal with that day.

sounds like you're going to the wrong places. stick to small business photographers...husband & wive teams, or one photographer that takes pride in their work. steer away from photographers that book more than one wedding a day. you never know who you might get!
keep in mind that the places that book more than one wedding a day show you their best work when you visit. you can't guarantee you'll get the photographer who shot that work. he/she might not even work there anymore! just some advice.

I have definitely noticed that that the smaller places I either met with the actual photographer or would be able to met with the photographer before signing. But thanks for the names of more photographers, I'll definitely check them out.

I met with my photographer before we signed our contract. Meeting him is why we decided to book Patken!

I've only met Eric from Duet, but will meet with our actual photographers during our e-picture shoot. I've heard nothing but RAVES for Duet and seen their work, I have complete confidence in them! I guess you just have to go with your gut feeling, if meeting/knowing your actual photographer is important to you, follow your heart!
