Am I the only one (sorry kinda long) ...

Original post by PurpleGrl156

not inviting kids to my wedding and getting flack about it from rents, future rents and FSIL?! FSIL basically gave us an ulitimatum (i.e. I can't come unless I bring my kids) this weekend. FH & I almost pulled *all* of our hair out dealing w/ this! UGH!!!! we are at the point that we just can't wait to be on a freaking plane for our HM!

Don't get me wrong, we love kids, our friends kids, nieces, nephews and everyone elses for that matter, but do we want a bunch o kids running around screaming on my wedding day? um no. Why can't people get that? It makes me feel like I am being some bridezilla meenie because of this request.

One of the reasons we don't want kids is because if you invite one, you got to invite them all and quite frankly some kids we know are better behaved than others and just don't want to deal with it.....My stepfamily has a lot of kids and well, they are the misbehaved ones.I am also getting the feeling that our families are forgetting that this is our wedding, not theirs and their friends and long lost cousin so and so's. It also seems that my stepmother seems to think she can invite everyone from her family some of which I don't even know. I am afraid if I don't nip this in the bud she is going to say 'sure you can bring little Johnny' without even asking me and I am afraid if we don't stipulate on the invite Adult Only we will be in a mess. Like a band-aid we are going to rip this one right off!

Who's the bridzilla now? LOL

We are not having any kids...im sure there will be some kind of back lash about it but TOUGH COOKIES! ANd we arent inviting them for the same reason-if we invite one we have to invite them all b/c no matter what someone who didnt bring their child b/c we said it will be upset that someone elses child is there and theirs isnt. SO to keep that to a minimum we are doing the same thing.
Besides-I think all the parents need a night to enjoy themselves

Bridezilla or NOT...if that makes me a bridezilla then I guess I am

we are not having kids at our wedding and thats final...no ifs and buts about it...i think your FH sister is being really unfair to try to corner you guys in, but i would advise you to put your foot down...she has more than enough time to hire a sitter.

We are not inviting kids for a lot of the same reasons as you ladies mentioned. If we invite one, we have to invite them all and we are already near our maximum that our hall will hold. Our wedding is also in the evening and I can't imagine why you would want to bring a child to an affair that ends so late. I'm sure they will get very cranky. I also don't want screaming babies at my ceremony. I am having a 12 and over policy. My little sister and her friend will be the only ones that young anyway. We don't even have a RB or a FG because all the little kids we know are our cousins' kids and we couldn't choose some of them and not all. So far I have all of the parents behind us including my step parents. I'm just waiting to see the drama that will come up from our cousins when they hear their little ones can't come. I just don't understand why people have to act that way. It's our day and they should respect our wishes. They can do whatever they want for their own events.

Dear Bridezilla.... J/K....I know exactly what point you are trying to make....If you invite one, then plan on inviting the rest....Well, don't let this get to you. You don't have to invite these screaming kids or even the good ones for that manner...This is your wedding....And I don't thing in my personal opinion, that kids should be invited to a wedding!!!

stick to your guns on this one. To be honest, there is no logical reason that their kids need to come with them to the wedding. If you dont want kids at your wedding, then dont cave on this. They're being difficult and selfish.

I didn't read your whole post because it hits a nerve everytime I read something like this. We are not having kids at the wedding and I had a BM drop out because of it. No one should have a say or comment about what you are or aren't doing for YOUR wedding. ARRRRGGGGGGGG

I feel your pain. Tell them to F off

It's your wedding...

We are not having children except for FH two nephews who are in the wedding. That was our only exception.

Hope that helps. Don't forget- You can't make everyone happy. Maybe you can say we can't afford them - Because you will literally be paying 50+ dollars on the kids and they don't even eat!

Hope that helps.
