Valentine's Day. we don't do much more that day than we would on any other day...I don't like the idea of a day designated to do nice things...I like many Valentine's Days throughout the year!

Nope, for us it is a normal day...We don't make it a special occasion...As FH says 'it is just another gimmick to get people to spend money!'
That is why we are doing nothing 'special' it is just another Tuesday night for us...Dinner & relax
same here !
there you are Date Twin...i've been wondering about you!

Re: Am I the only one that doesn't celebrate
Nope, I've never liked the holiday and all the hype. I hated being single and having that stuff forced into my face in every direction I turned, like there was something wrong with me for not having a bf. Plus I couldn't stand the freaking competition between people in HS with all the balloons, candy, flowers, AND giant teddy bears that were bigger then they were. Such a waste of $$ that could be better spent!! And that's true love??
FH and I don't really do anything for it now. Last year we went to a diner while he was on a break/after I got out of work. He got me roses, I got him a nice card, played some music, and lit candles for when he got home. I think this year I'm going to make him blueberry muffins, he likes those! I always like to make something rather than buy stuff.

Re: Am I the only one that doesn't celebrate
I have always hated valentine's day, even when I have been with someone. I agree with Janie that it is Hallmark's way to make $$$$. DH usually cooks dinner for me (my fav-chicken parm) and then we light some candles and listen to romantic music. Nothing big- no gifts. I was a little excited this year only because I could buy him a HUSBAND card... needless to say I bought the card a few weeks ago!!
IMO, it's really just another day and we should tell our FH/DH that we love them all the time.

In the beginning we did - but that was before I moved in. Now it's just a normal day.

Sorry, I need a dedicated day once a year to stuff my face with chocolate. Nobody can say anything about a diet then, cause it's Valentines Day after all.

Re: Am I the only one that doesn't celebrate
We don't 'do' anything for V-day, usually we go to dinner on the weekend before or after and take his mom out to make her feel nice. Last year, we were apart on V-day because of family illness / work issues and I also missed his birthday. This year my dh is going to be in Finland on V-day so we are meeting in Paris on his way back for a President's Day weekend treat.

Nope, you're not the only ones. Our anniversary is 2 weeks after V-Day so we usually skip over that day and celebrate the momentous occasion of us getting together.
