Am I the only one who lives with FH and felt no need for a registry?
We live together and have everything we need and want. I almost feel bad registering for things, but my FMIL told me I had to for my guests.
I dont need any more dishes (I cant fit what I have), or towels, or gadgets and gizmos etc. Our honeymoon is taken care of etc. We dont need anything.
What do you register when you are already living together?

Try registering for your honeymoon. I am not going to do this but it seems like a great alternative in your case.

I live with FH and will be registering because even though we have dishes-we DEF WANT NEW ones, basically what we have minus a few things, like pots and pans needs an overhall!
we want china too
we may not have the room right now, but we will one day-hopefully sooner than later ...
you could register for items you dont have or want new of
(personally i dont like the honeymoon registry-i know it becoming more common, but i am just not a fan)
do you have a hobby?? say you and fh love to drink wine, maybe you could have a 'wine themed' shower- and register for items to go along with your theme

I feel the same way, only we don't live together but I have been on my own for like 3 years. Try unconventional registry ideas. Luggage is a good one, Playstation. Any type of furnitrue. Check out your items at home that you have had for a while, your Microwave etc. Also if you love wine (like me) I registered for wine kits and a wine fridge. Just off the wall ideas. HTH

The things Im excited about is a new grill and a swingset for my son. Thats about it. I registered for some gift cards. I hope thats not tacky, but I really dont see anything I want or need right now. (I registered for a lot of other things too)
I would love to register for someone to come and paint my place. Is there a way I could register for that? LOL

There is no rule out there that say you have to register. If you don't need anything tell your BP you don't want a shower at all.
Or let your guests be creative and let them get you whatever they want. You could also have a lingerie shower or one with another theme.
Or simply state 'no gifts' on the invite.

In all seriousness wouldn't it be nice to register for:
A gardener for a day A maid for a day Someone to paint my house Someone to go shopping for me LOL Maybe a dinner delivery once a week A flower delivery once a week
These are the things I need or want

I hear you, we don't need anything. I haven't moved in with him, but between things I have in my apt & things he has in his house, we are pretty much set. We registered for things for the yard, towels, sheets, comforter, etc. Not too much for the kitchen except some new pots (we'll just replace the ones we have). You know what, if you don't register people will buy what you don't need or already have. So better to find things you can tolerate getting or having more of....you'd be surprised what you can register for. You can never have too many bath towels or sheets....

thats what i said. weve lived together for about 2 1/2 yrs and we have most stuff. so we went to bed, bath, and beyond, and the guy said to replace things. he said thats what he did. after a few years that toaster oven can be updated. and sheets and towels as well. always good to get new.

We have been living together for a little over 2 years now and we thought that too, but then we went out there...and found 'different' things that would be nice to have.

FH and I live together but there are things that need to be replaced (towels, cookware, gadgets, glassware). But there are some things that we never had because we didn't see the need to 'splurge' - like on a $250 Kitchen Aid stand mixer or pricey barware. So... we put stuff like that on our registry.

i too have lived with FH for 2 years and of couse we have everything
but after talking it out, we realized there are definitly things we want to upgrade now
that 10 dollar blender we bought in college just doesnt work as well as the 150 kitchenaid one
that 50 dollar bed in a bag has has its use and now we finally get to have that nice high thread count nautica one we loved!
Sometimes, you have to think less practically and more greedily when it comes to this time when people will buy you almost anything you want

I live with FH too so I wasn't going to register. But you should register for some stuff for your shower.

FH and I have lived together for 3 years, and although we have dishes, towels, etc, they are all falling apart since they are hand-me downs. So we will get formal china (maybe regular too; don't know if you can register for correllle) and probably things we don't have like a really nice mixer, waffle maker , etc. We are not moving into a house for a few years, but we figure we can save the china for when we do move into a house. The other more useful stuff we will start using right away.

You could register at home depot and they have some services for the non-diy person. How about registering for merry maids or something like that?

Home depot has a registry service. But it is online only http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS/EN_US/diy_main/pg_diy.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0891502956.1116177114@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdiaddejehkdjicgelceffdfgidglo.0&CNTTYPE=PROD_META&CNTKEY=Gift%20Center&MID=9876&pos=n26
Merry Maids - you would have to sign up with giftcertificates.com http://www.giftcertificates.com/merchant/prod.cfm?sessionid=07278642303452716242&hid=0&merchant_id=2556
You can also go here for merry maids http://www.servicemaster.com/specials.dsp and they have discounts too.
