don't worry, you will find someone...
this is new york where, as much as i hate this phrase, 'photographers are a dime a dozen'
don't let vendors pressure you into thinking otherwise.

I am getting married 6/12/04 and didn't even start looking until the end of January. I booked Proline Studios only 2 weeks ago.

Proline is well known and has 3 offices - one in Queens - so I can't imagine they wouldn't travel to Westchester.

Re: Am I too late? ( photography question)
Is it Geraldine that is available instead of Anthony? We are using her. We won't get a chance to meet her until probably April (we live OOT), but I've seen her work and it is amazing.
I just worried that if we waited any longer, we would get some random photographer that had been subcontracted out and had only done two weddings in his/her life. So we took Geraldine because Anthony works closely with her.

Re: Am I too late? ( photography question)
it really depends...the bigger photography firms migh be booked since people get that done first....try some lesser known photographers...check my profile for mine....they're probably not booked and they are wonderful!

They could be booked. Those are all that have a good rep on the board so they go quick. But you have a selection there. At least one of them should be available.
Yes, it was Geralidne. SHe is on maternity leave, so we were told the same thing, we can't meet her untill April. I saw a few books, but I don't knwo if they were Anthony's or Geraldine's. How did you know.
I didn't think to ask that till later.
Proline was too traditional for me & I didn't want to add a 2nd photographer.
Imagine was ruled out b/c as Iunderstand you have to book video with them as wel. We arne't doing video.
I live in Mount Vernon. FH is from Scarsdale. I'm from Bethpage originally. I am getting married in Massapeqqua & the reception is in Jerricho.
The only one I know who could meet me in Manhattan was Mark Kaufmann. Do you know of others?

I asked Anthony to show me Geraldine's pictures. She also has a few of them on their web site. (The album of the beautiful Asian bride.)
But if you don't want to add a second photographer, then you might want to reconsider Perceptions.
I have heard great things about Mark Kauffman. I would have also gone with Imagine if they were available for my date.
Good luck!

i lived up the road from Scarsdale Village, small world
i honestly did a lot of my research online and decided to target freelance photographers after scoping out some studios. after meeting Tom Weis i stopped looking. i like his work and personality. i don't know anyone who has used him and am going with my gut feeling and personal assessment.

Re: Am I too late? ( photography question)
oh, ok. I saw the asian bride's album. She had the two dresses. That was a great album.
the other album's I saw were one from Italy & one that was coffee tabel style, but I don't remember much about the wedding.
With preceptions, the main photgrapher is Photjournalistic, whihc I liked, and it wasn't too expensive to add a tradiotnal.
For Proline it was the other way around, and more $ to add a photojournalistic photographer. It's just personal prefernce, but I'm more into the photojournalistic.

Re: Am I too late? ( photography question)
Don't worry -- you'll definitely find someone -- you are not too late. I second Geraldine from Perceptions. I remember seeing her work (I asked whose was whose) and it was very good. You would be surprised how much of what you saw was probably hers not Anthony's. I think I was shown almost an entire album that was hers.
Here are some other photographers that were on my list -- I'll give you as much info as I have so that you can decide if you even want to bother looking into them:
Ferlise Studios $4200 for 350 proofs ++ Corner of Jerusalem Ave & Tailor Lane 516-796-0712 www.ferlisestudio.com
Creative Compositions Look pricey One Townsend Square Oyster Bay, New York 11771 516-922-1110 www.creativecompositions.com
Visual Concepts 531 Main Street Islip, NY 11751 631-277-6023 www.visualconcepts.net
Viewpoint Photography 88 Green Street Huntinton Village, NY 11743 631-421-1238 www.viewpointphotography.com
Rabenko Photography & Video Sounds pricey 10 Union Avenue Lynbrook, NY 11563 516-593-9760 www.rabenko.com
Imagine Studios Happauge medium pkg price: $3800 631-273-84342 www.imaginestudios.net
Spelman Studios 770-10 Grand Boulevard Deer Park, NY 11729 631-254-11729 www.spelmanstudios.com
Keep in mind that I started looking in 2003 for a 2005 wedding so the prices would probably vary now. They are just approximates. Good Luck!

Tom Weiss doesn't do albums though, right?
That's why I was looking at a studio. Thanks everyoen for your suggestions. I know everyday soemoen posts a photography question, mostly peopel jsut list who they are using, which was a good start, but the extra details have been really helpful.

Re: Am I too late? ( photography question)
I definitely prefer photojournalistic as well.
What about Jonathan Hubsman (sp)? All photojournalistic, very cool stuff.
A couple of people on this site are using him, and he might be in Manhattan or willing to meet you there.
