I knew before we asked out GM that they were going to be a problem because FI and I are getting married right after college and we are all starting new jobs, moving away, etc. Two of the GM are i-bankers and they work 15 hour days and have no free time. So one of them emailed us today and told us there was no way he could find time to get measure for his tux, or pick it up. But not to worry that he would dress sharp. I know that I should be okay with that considering that situation and that we just want him to be there, but its really bothering me! The GM should be in tuxes, I want him to match, but I dont know what to do.
When did I turn into a bridezilla???

Re: I am turning into a bridezilla...
you're not being a bridezilla--you can't tell me he doesn't have 2 minutes to go and get measured somewhere---ANYWHERE---he works 7 days a week? come on, that's just not being courteous---he's in a wedding won't he feel dumb? no one will even know he's in the wedding until he's standing up front lol it's gonna look weird in the pics---i think fh should talk to him---he's basically saying 'I don't care' JMO

That's crap. - He has 2 minutes to go ANYWHERE to get professionally measured and then call his measurements in to the Tux place..........I'm sure under the circumstances they would make an exception. - And I'm sure one of the others won't mind picking up his Tux..........

Re: I am turning into a bridezilla...
I know!! This was his exact response,
'please im coming in jeans and a t shirt (clean, if you're lucky). haha no but seriously i wont have time to get out and get fitted - you know how work is, but i'll look sharp'
FI is mad too!

Ask FI to speak to him about it. - He doesn't need to look 'sharp' - he needs to be in the same tux as the other GM !!

Ok - I have to be totally honest here. I don't think your being a bridzilla. I think your letting this guy walk all over you both!! I could not imagine my husbands friends telling us that they were too busy to get fitted for a tux. We're all professionals who work long hours. Your GM accepted to be in the bridal party. He should owe up to his commitment and get a tux. He can look really sharp at his own wedding!!!!

Re: Am I turning into a bridezilla...?
I completely agree. This guy can take time and get measured. Tell your FH to call him and tell him to get measured or we will understand if you don't want to be a GM.
You are not being a bridezilla at all. Don't even think that!

I don't think you're being a bridezilla AT ALL!!! If he can't find a few minutes to get measured then he shouldn't be a GM. I think your FH should tell him that he has to wear a tux and that's final. What a pain!! Guys can be so clueless!

Re: Am I turning into a bridezilla...?
ok, you could take the passive agressive route & blame it on someone else--'My mom will disown me if all the groomsmen don't match...'
Is he picking it up near him or on LI? If its on LI,then he won'tbe working, he'll be here for the wedding! Unless he's from here. . .
You may have to baby him a little. Look up a place rightnear his job & tell him you made an apppt.
We have 1 GM in Chicago who travels ALL the time for work. He is pretty responsible but we totally thought he didn't get measured, but FH called the store & he did, he just didn't get a chance to tell us he did.
So, if he can find time, this guy can too.

Re: Am I turning into a bridezilla...?
I totally think he has time to go get measured somewhere, and call in the measurements to the tux place. How's this for an idea? He has to go to the dry cleaners, right? He sounds like a suit guy. So, ask him PLEASE PLEASE the next time he goes to drop off his suits, have the dry cleaners measure him. Almost every place I know of, they measure you, and its almost always free, and it takes THREE minutes. (I've had it done.) Maybe that will help. Good luck!! (And, no, you're not a bridezilla. Bridezilla is asking him to get a hair cut to match your FH's. Totally reasonable to ask him to match the GM!)

Re: Am I turning into a bridezilla...?
How did he have time to go and buy his suit that he is going to come in...dress sharp my butt..it takes no time to get measured...he should have to go for three fittings for a dress! It's a cop out..He doesn't have to be in the BP if he doesn't have time to have that honor...

Re: Am I turning into a bridezilla...?
tell him to go to the closest location to where he works - dry cleaner- tuxdo place - even taylor or seamstress - and get measured while he is on the cell phone with your FH - write down the measurements and then you can give them to the tux place
my fh emailed or faxed or gave his measurements over the phone for all of the weddings that he was in this year
if not - ask him for his reg clothes size -and guess the rest and just call them in yourself - it may not be perfect but at least he will be wearing the same tux

Re: Am I turning into a bridezilla...?
I understand how busy this guy is (my fiance works for Lehman Brothers), but come on! He should make this a priority and take 15 mins during the day to get this done. Is he in the city, because if so, there is no reason why he can't get measured.
Maybe he doesn't understand that he can go anywhere to get measured and then just call the tux shop you are ordering from with his measurements.
A suggestion, although you shouldn't have to do this, but to make it easier on all is find out where he works and call around the area for a tux shop or seamstress.

We have already done that! This guy works for Lehman Brothers too. So is it really that bad? Is your FI able to spare 10 minutes!!
