Re: Am I wrong?
im putting one thing of flowers on the alter.. thats it!... its too expensive..and to be honest.. we may not even have a church.. its FHs one and only job since it is his church.. and he has YET to call and we decided on his church 3 months ago. and i refuse to step in and call. im planning everything else by myself this is the one thing i know he can handle doing!

Re: Am I wrong?
i had no intention of decorating the church - my church is very plain and i kind of wanted to keep it that way. . . and we arent even having a mass ( FH's choice NOT mine)
However, my mom almost passed OUT when she heard this. . . so she agreed to pay for any flowers in the church - we are doing two big things on the altar and then decorating about 5 pews on each side. My mom wanted to do more BUT my church should still be decorated for Christmas so I dont want it to look gaudy!
*I wish i had video taped THAT conversation with my mother . . . she couldnt even BREATHE she was so horrified. . .

Re: Am I wrong?
I am not decorating the church. I am getting married during Lent so we cant have flowers on the alters.
I will be getting a runner....but priest said to make sure it is a linen one...he has seen many people slip on the silk one.s

I didn't realize that. Is that a standard thing?? Just as well, save me some bucks on flowers!

Re: Am I wrong?
With the catholic church (or shall I say mine) the priest told me I couldnt decorate the alter.
I really dont mind though...it helps cut the cost by a few hundred dollars....more to spend on the honeymoon!!!

Re: Am I wrong?
My church is pretty by itself, I don't plan on decorating it aside from a personalized aisle runner (if I can do it myself, if not, then nothing).

Re: Am I wrong?
I'm happy someone feels me!
I mean my church is HUGE! And why am I causing more work for the janitorial staff even though they are cool.
FH said it's way to much...SO i'm just going to have my aisle runner and just probably something to mark off for the family and BP to sit. Because they do not stand at our wedding

Re: Am I wrong?
Were allowed to do whatever we want except have a runner. they said to many people have fallen. I don't think will have flowers at the alter. the preist even said it's a waste of money cause after they just throw them out. abut we will put tull and bows on each pew....well the first 5-10

YES you usally have the driver place it down I believe. remeber use linen not silk or your be having a slip and slide wedding and you dont want the elders falling and hurting themselves.
Maybe they will be banned eventually by all churches/

yes it does but he said that people get up to take pics and then wind up tripping so they don't allow it. it's ok i really didn't want one. and my church is really long to it would probably cost alot more.

Re: Am I wrong?
our church said that in August they have real flowers all over the church. So we don't plan on buying flowers. However, my mom wants to put bows or crocheted bells on the pews. I don't care either way i'm leaving it up to her.
