am i wrong?

am i wrong?

So... to make a long story short, my mom loves Mexico and anything having to do with it ( in particular Mariachi Bands) so she said that she would like, and pay for a Mariachi Band for cocktail hour. She also origianlly wanted dancers for cocktail and i veto'd that cuz imo you don't have dancers at cocktail and i wouldn't want them taking away from my dancing time at the reception, but i was fine having the Mariachi band during cocktail.
I'm not jumping up and down about it cuz it's my mom's thing and i'm fine having them but i'm also fine not having them.

So last night i mentioned to her that we heard someone had a doo wop group at cocktail and Fh and i thought that was an amazing idea and would look into that if she wasn't doing the Mariachi Band. I wasn't saying it as to change her mind... i was just talking to her. So she calls me in later saying something like. 'i dont think i'm going to do the Mariachi Band cuz neither of you really seem to care about it and i dont want to waste my $ on something that you guys don't care about.'
But she didn't say it in a way that was like 'i dont want you to have something you dont want' it was more like 'your not making a big enough deal about being excited for it and i don't want to be excited by myself so i'm going to spite you and not do it' I said fine to it cuz again, it didn't matter to me either way.
But realize, i've been the one calling and emailing different groups for prices.. not her.

I don't know how i can be excited and jumping up and down for something that i dont care about either way. I would only want them there because she wants them there, it's not really my thing but its ok cuz she's paying for it.

But am i wrong?

Sometimes parents dont realize the lines that they cross during the wedding planning process...If i was you, i have to admit, I would be annoyed with my mother for it all...

Your not wrong.
Parents can go a little crazy sometimes.
They sometimes forget that its not their wedding.

I think it depends on your relationship with her. There are things my mother has wanted or has turned down some of my ideas, but all in all we come to some sort of agreement bc we have a great relationship. I think you need to be honest with your mother and tell her it wasn't something you really wanted. I've told my mom things that I don't want and she usually says 'whatever makes you happy' Maybe she can contribute to another area of the wedding. Actually I think Barb's idea was great.

The thing is... i don't mind them being there. I just don't think she likes me saying , 'i don't mind.. or either way is fine with me'.

she really needs to hear me say something like ,'omg thats such a great idea i'm so excited your such a wonderful mother for thinking that' lol

I don't think you are wrong by any means. People get excited over different things. It isn't right for her to spite you though bc of your lack of excitment she is really only spiting herself. I would just talk to her. I am sure you will both come to an understanding...

btw I think a mariachi band is a pretty fun idea for a CH... JMO thought

IDK maybe I would give in a little if you don't mind having them anyway. Is she helping for the wedding in other ways too? If so I would put on the act a little bit. if not and you and FH are doing it all on your own.... well thats a different story
