Am I wrong?!
On January 17th I ordered a pair of earrings to wear on the big day. The etsy vendor responded that she received my payment (January 17th) and to allow 4-6 weeks to receive them. On March 2nd (over 4-6 weeks) I still hadn't received the earrings and hadn't heard anything from the vendor. I emailed her (March 2nd) explaining I hadn't received anything ...she emailed me back that same day explaining she was sorry, there was an illness in the family and that she would make them that weekend (weekend of March 2nd) so they would be shipped early that week. It is now March 8 and I still hadn't received the earrings or heard from her with a tracking number or even letting me know that they were sent out. SO ...I emailed her again tonight - March 8) explaining I was sorry for the illness in her family but I needed to express my concerns about my order and that I am wanting to cancel my order or at least receive some sort of discount since she has had my money for almost 3 months!, ...she emailed me back in a rude way saying that life happens and that my order was already shipped and I could stamp it with refusal and once she receives it she would give me a full refund.I feel she wasn't really understand my point. Was I in the wrong? I feel for her for having an illness in the family but you run a business! If you have customers and their MONEY then you should at least have the courtesy to let them know that you will be running behind. She never asked me when my wedding was ...she told me 4-6 weeks, what if my wedding was this week ...I wouldn't have had them!
Sorry for the long rant

You are not wrong at all. I agree 100% with you. Yes, life happens, but like you said, she runs a business. If an emergency occurred she should have let you, and any other customers know of the fact and made sure the delay would be ok with each customer or give a full refund!

Am I wrong?!
You're not wrong...she's running a business and while life happens, she should have contacted you about the delay especially after you contacted her.

Re: Am I wrong?!
Your not wrong at all ... She has to learn that when u have your own business that u have to run it right and u were understanding so she a bitter person don't let her drive u crazy and if I were u I would report her so she gets the hint .... I've used esty for everything I never had a problem with the vendors at all ...all very nice and she needs to learn to be nice and not nasty

Not wrong at all. 90Z% of the time etsy vendors are great but I have had to deal w a few rude ones. Sorry but when you run a business you have to follow through with commitments, illness or not. You think Potterybarn would say sorry we forgot? No ( and yes I get its two diff bus, I'm just giving examples bc I'm stalking my registry )And not for nothing if she said that she was going to make them this wknd why is it a 4-6 week wait time?
If I were u I would tell her your wedding is this weekend!

You are not at fault at all. She has had your money and you expect a service. If she said she sent it out I would ask for a tracking number.

You are def not wrong. I think it was really wrong of her to respond back in a rude way. While she may have had an illness in her family she needs to understand that she sold you a product and gave you a time frame of delivery. It's not fair for you to wonder where your purchase is.

Does she have other negative reviews on etsy? (Do they even have vendor reviews on etsy?) If not, I would make a point to write exactly what you wrote here. Tell her you'll be happy to take the negative review down once she makes amends somehow (only do this after you receive the earrings). You're not wrong, and if she can't see that and give you some sort of discount, you can do your part to make sure other potential clients are aware of the way she acts when she is wrong.

Re: Am I wrong?!
Thanks for giving me reassurance everyone! She told me when I received the earrings I could write refusal on the package and send them back for a full refund. This is exactly what I'm doing, I received them yesterday and they are going back to the post office on Monday. I refuse to give this etsy vendor my service.
To top it off I went to the store last night and found a much more elegant pair of earrings (originally $200 with a sale and a coupon I bought them for less that $70, and these were real pearls, where the vendor was over $50 for hers and even though pretty the pearls were obviously fake). So I feel I got a better deal!
