So I got a voicemail today from one of my friends sending her regrets that she can't attend my bridal shower (and the date)...my SURPRISE bridal shower.
I talked to my mom and she said she didn't put that it was a surprise on the invitation because she assumed that most showers are a surprise.
I'm really disappointed. I knew it was coming but I didn't know when and now I feel like the surprise is ruined. I've NEVER had a surprise party thrown for me in my life and I'm sort of sad that I'm missing out on a planned surprise

Its definately okay to be upset, but I wouldnt be specifically angry or upset with any one person. Your friend obv didnt do it on purpose. Try to make the best of it. Either way your going to have an amazing day and everyone will be there for you!

Think about it this way... you'll have make up on and look nice, and not be caught off guard in sweats and a pony tail.

That's a total bummer and I would be upset too, but you can't hold it against your friend. If I got invited to a shower and it didn't specifically say it was a surprise on the invite I wouldn't assume that it was a surprise because not everyone likes surprises.

Maybe that was all part of the plan to throw you completely off the real date of the shower!

I'd be upset too, but the shower won't be any less fabulous. This is why I always assume showers are surprises!

I won't be surprised, but I will still have fun being completely overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone and how nice it is that they went to so much trouble for me. So you will still have that to look forward to!

Families do a lot of weird things come wedding-time. I hope, for you, that's the worst of it. Just enjoy the day. Besides, there's always Baby Showers! :0 )

You don't know where it is though, right? It's ok! You'll be surprised when you get there and you won't know how it's decorated. I knew when and where my shower was, but I had no clue about anything else. It was still exciting to get to the restaurant and see how hard my friends and family worked to make it a beautiful event.

I would be upset. But you can't get mad because the invite said nothing about a surprise . but enjoy you day anyway, and i agree with one o0f the other post. at least you'll look your best for pictures

I agree! I mean if it's not a surprise then the invite would come from you but if it came from your mom then to be safe, she should have called that number...but dont let that get to you - you will now look fabulous & trust me, there are plenty of other surprises - like the activities planned, who comes, & all the gifts! You will have a wonderful time!

Wow!! That really sucks! I can understand her not knowing because it didn't say surprise on the invite BUT I am sure the RSVP wasn't supposed to go to you so she should not have left that vmail! I'd be so upset also!
A friend of mines almost ruined it for me to. She's like 'hey, I got an invite...' but she saw the look on my face and shut up. Im like I know its coming but don't know when it is or anything about it so shush! lol I'm like OMG leave it to u to almost ruin it lol Luckily she didn't ruin the date for me.

I get why you're upset. But can I just tell you how lucky you are that you know?! I found out about my shower by accident the morning-of, and it was so stressful and awful trying to put together an outfit. Now you can prepare and have it just how you want it.

I understand why you are upset! But it probably was just an honest mistake. It sounds like you know that but you are just disappointed. Don't worry though because there are still aspects of your shower that will be a surprise. All of the work your family and/or bridesmaids put into it that will still be s surprise for you! The decor, the guests, the favors, it will still be such a nice day for you!!
