i HATE that! i don't understand how people assume that they are invited with a guest when the invitaiton is clearly marked to ONE person only! i am so nervous of that happening for my wedding!

it just puts you in an awkward position!

Re: Am i wrong for being like whoaaaaaaaaa

I honestly think that alot of people who aren't married or never really been involved with weddings don't realize. I think they just assume they can bring a guest and dont think about minimums and maximum capacity of rooms, they dont think of cost or anything like that. I also think that most people who get invites just open them right up to look at just the date, time, place and thats it. They dont sit there and think 'oh wait it was only addressed to me so I guess i cant bring a date' I know we hate hearing this when knowing how much thought we put into invites, but for others when they get it, they really dont put as much thought into it or really look at it, they look at it for the info they need and thats it

I hate to say it but YEARS ago when i would get an invite, i didnt pay attention to whether it was addressed JUST to me and I probably thought everybody was allowed to bring a guest. Not that they are being rude but they honestly are just making a simple mistake and only bc they just don't really know. I mean how much did all of us know about all wedding things before we were engaged. Now we know and see what other brides go through so we understand.

I would just explain it to her nicely. Say sorry since we are limited on space, we cant invite everybody with a guest and single people are not getting and guest as an option.

DO you think she got the point? I would just hope she does, bc when its a co-workers wedding you might not feel as comfortable going alone as when its a friend and you know others there. But if she is cool with the guy at your office then hopefully that will make her more comfortable.

tell that guy to ask her to carpool there together. If she knows everybody then she should be fine going alone.

awww I dont think she is retarded lol i just had to repeat that. But for example, look at all the things girls on here had absolutely no clue about when it came to weddings. SOme even things that others knew way before they were engaged but other newly engaged women just had no clue.

Plus now with pocketfolds there are no inner envelopes so you cant list who you are inviting. Etiquette used to say never to put and guest on the outer envelope but since invites have changed now its ok to do so but if people read old etiquette they will think you cant put and guest on the outer envelope. So this can confuse some people if they dont know. Like did the person not write and guest on the outside bc you cant or can i not bring a guest.

I would just let her know straight out. I say get the awkwardness out of the way now rather than the day of your wedding, ya know?

Ms. Jane Doe (no guest)

SOME PEOPLE JUST DON'T GET IT!

Or she was just testing you to see if u would say something about her not being able to bring anyone.

Re: Am i wrong for being like whoaaaaaaaaa

I worry about that...it might be rude of me but I think I will be writing the total number of people on each rsvp return that will be attending. So if I write down 1, 2 or 3 will be attending. I don't care who you bring but you are only allowed to come with the amount I wrote down. Its for them to decide who they want to bring. If you leave it blank they thinks its a free for all. The good thing is that at least she asked instead of just bringing the date.

Re: Am i wrong for being like whoaaaaaaaaa

no not wrong at all. I agree if they are not in a serious relationship, married, engaged then it is perfectly fine to invite them solo. If they are unsure of whether they can bring someone, sometimes you may get the call from them asking. I have a friend who was nice enough to do that for my eparty.

Some people really are not understanding the whole 'minimums, cost per person etc' aspect of weddings esp if you are having quite a large affair.
If there is a table for work people, then she should feel fine being there, not out of place at all.
