Am I wrong for being upset? (a little long, sorry)

Original post by MikeandJess

Sometimes i need you girls to keep me grounded and let me know when I'm being downright crazy. This weekend I found out that FH's parents are paying for his bachelor party. Most of you know my situation but his parents are not paying anything towards this wedding. In my mind, this is them making a point of how much they don't approve of me. They won't drop a dime when I'm involved but they'll pay for FH's bachelor party Not only that but they always mention how they're following tradition and traditionally the brides parents pay for the wedding, well then traditionally shouldn't they pay for the RD? I don't get why they're paying for the bachelor party it just doesn't make sense to me. I honestly feel like they're doing this to hurt me. Please don't quote me I'm going to take this down because we're not supposed to know that his parents are paying for his bachelor party. Thanks girls

whaaaaaaaaaat!? Dude, thats ridiculous.

Seriously.I'm SURE Mike's friends have cashola. They should be paying for him - not his parents. His friends can afford it.

Maybe have him suggest that to his parents? That his GM are picking up the tab, and that the money would be better spent on the freaking WEDDING!?

Ridiculous.

I'm very sorry you are going through this
you have every right to be upset. the BM is in charge of the bachelor party not his family. I won't consider that as 'contributing'.

i don't know what else to say. i don't understand why weddings can bring out the worst in people. This is supposed to be happy time. why can't they be happy that their son found a wonderful girl to spend the rest of his life with !!!

i hope things work out for you

Hmm that sounds a little odd. I'm sorry you have to deal with this.

I dont think you are overreacting at all. What does your FH say about this? I would def. be upset. As long as the two of you are ahppy....dont let them ruin anything

I am in a similar situation to yours. FH's parents are divorced. FFIL is being very generous and helping us pay for our honeymoon. FMIL has done NOTHING. She has not spent a dime on either of us. Not even a card. I feel your pain.

Feel free to FM me and vent.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that

This is really terrible, would FH have a talk with them?

It's a really hard situation because he's not supposed to know they're paying for his BP so he can't really talk to them about it.

Grr.. Jess so sorry you are going through this. But it is outright wrong. They are shunning you out in a nonchalant (sp?) sort of way. I have NEVER heard of parents paying for any bachelor OR bachelorette party. FH needs to tell them nicely, no thank you... my GM are paying for that, but we sure could use it towards the RD. HTH

I think they might possibly be doing this as a control thing, he talked about doing his bachelor party in NC and I think they were so against it they offered to pay for the whole thing so that it would be in the state where they want it (so that their other son can go)

He's not supposed to know so I have a feeling they already spoke to his BM, I don't know how the convo transpired
