Am I wrong? (sorry it's long)

Am I wrong? (sorry it's long)

I feel like my MOH keeps choosing the Islanders over me. She and her family have been season ticket holders for years and years and they have a large number of seats. Most are given away to business clients of the family or friends.

She left my e-party with her family after 20 minutes to go to a game. I scheduled all of our BM dress shopping around games. She didn't come to my first dress fitting b/c of a game. At that fitting I had to schedule the final fitting, which requires a BM to learn the bustle, without her. My other BM is in Georgia. To make that appt. I scheduled around her typical work schedule. When I tell her about it today, she tells me that there is a game that night and tells me she can't go to the fitting, that I have to move it in order for her to come. I even tried to tell her that I know I can have an eariler appt. but she says she can't go at all that night b/c of the game. Now, I can rescheudule it easily but it's the principal.

I feel like she feels the Islanders are more important than me. That hurts. My mother tells me just to forget about it b/c I am not going to change her priorities, but it still bugs me! Sorry if this sounds silly or petty, but it's adding up. Thanks for listening.

Hi Sasha,

This is completely unacceptable. You have to tell her..tactfully, of course...that you cannot allow your wedding plans to be compromised by a hockey team. And if you get a snine response, tell her you wont have your plans compromised by a mediocre hockey team...and that the Rangers rule. If that doesnt get her goat, I dont know what will.

Best!

Hi,
I could see being a fan, but to leave your engagement party is really unacceptable. My husband is a big Rangers fan so I know how often there are home games. I could see if she couldnt meet you for a casual night out because she has tickets, but your engagement party? I think that is totally not fair. I would be hurt if that happened to me. Why not ask her if she wants to play this big role in your wedding and let her know how you feel? Good luck!

Ok first thing wrong with her is that she's an Islander fan. I can see doing this if it were the Rangers.

Sorry, just a little levity to lighten your mood. I think you need to confront her about this immediately. This is completely selfish and immature behavior on her part. The Islanders will be here next year, your wedding won't. Tell her that.

Thanks for your responses! It feels better to know someone (other than FH of course) understands.

BTW, you will love to know that she 'can't come to my final fitting' b/c the Islanders are playing the Rangers!!! She said if I move up the time, since it will sell out, she will have to park so far away that she will end up missing half the game. Ugh.

The way you feel is completely understandable. You are not wrong! I would feel hurt too. As your MOH she should be one of YOUR biggest fans. Your wedding is a very special and important event in your life and as your MOH she should be there to support you and be interested in all aspects of your wedding. Have you told her how you feel? Maybe she doesn't realize how much it hurts you. Of course, as your MOH she should be aware of how important this day is to you, but I guess some people are not as attentive to these things as others. With that being said, I agree with your mother. You probably won't be able to change her, so the best thing I guess is to try not to let it bother you. It is sad that she is missing out on sharing all of these wonderful times in your life...for a hockey team no less. I hope that she comes around.
