In Jan (when I bought my dress) I decided that a wine color bridesmaids dress would look best. I decided on an Alfred Angelo strapless floor length dress. My 'best friend' is getting married in may of 08 (5 months before me). She wanted tea length dress for her BM in a green color. Then she changed her mind and decided on a cherry red tea length. Well, the tea length one she wanted was discontinued before any of us could order it. So she picked another BM dress that is now... strapless, floor length, in cranberry (its by jordan) I think our BM dresses now look identical. The color is almost exactly the same. She thinks I am being petty over something as simple as a color... but I picked mine out months ago and mentioned it at least 20 times... then she goes and picks almost the exact same thing? Am I wrong to be upset?

I would be bummed! Especially if she knows that you are already having that color. Are there alot of people going to the weddings?

Re: Am I wrong? sorry long...
My friend got engaged a little bit before me and shes in my Bridal party and when she gets married I will actually be her MOH. Although they cancelled their date due to financial problems she did have a bm dress picked out and It was one I liked but she never got around to showing us so when we went to go try on the dresses for my Bridal party there were 3 I liked and one was the one she wanted and before I showed them the dresses she pointed out thats the dress she wanted us to have. So I laughed and said best friends have the same taste and Decided to go with one of the other ones. I wouldn't do that to her even though she doesn't have the date set as of now she soon will and I didn't want to take the dress she really liked. There is a million dresses and a million colors she could have picked something different.

I dont think there will be any of the same people at our weddings... but I am really not concerned with what other people will think. I am more concerned with the fact that she knew what I picked and didnt even think twice about taking exactly what I wanted. ...sorry to bother everyone with this but I dont have anyone else to ask and it is hurting my feelings that she is being so snotty and acting like I am being petty

I would be peeved. She may feel like youre overreacting but she knew what color you chose a long time ago. I mean you dont want to make it into a huge thing but its okay to vent about it...

I am trying not to turn it into a huge thing but her attitude about it and the tone of voice she used when talking to me about it was completely out of line. She even hung up on me. I cannot believe this is even happening

She's probably acting defensive because she knows she's wrong! I cant believe she's getting an attitude. Let her cool down before speaking to her again. She started this whole thing to begin with. Dont worry Im sure you guys wont end your friendship because of this. I hope you workit out

I might be annoyed if my MOH did that to me because we're related and would have nearly identical guest lists, but even then I'd try not to get too upset. In your situation I just don't see why it's that big of a deal.
As brides we(i'm including myself here) sometimes forget that we don't 'own' anything in relation to our weddings. We dont own the week, the month, the colors we choose, the style gown we pick, or anything else like that.
Try to be flattered instead of annoyed. It's just a dress and nothing to ruin a friendship over.

I am her co- MOH as she puts it and she is in my BP. I don't think I own the color... but, thats what I picked and I think its insane that of all the other 100's of styles and colors of BM dresses... she had to pick exactly what I picked. I mean if the dress was tea length and the same color... I wouldnt mind. It just the point that it is exactly what I picked.

i didnt mean to imply that you think you own the color, that's why i said 'we brides' and gave several examples.... i can understand being annoyed, but i cant see getting too upset over it and ruining a friendship over a dress. there are tons of other styles and colors yes, but if she loves the same style and color is it really fair for her to compromise her vision of her wedding b/c it's similar to yours? did she pick the exact same dress? b/c that would be a little silly, and perhaps rude. Either way i don't think insane is a fair term to use when referring to someone who is your close friend b/c of a dress. Is it actually the same color? have you compared swatches? I only ask because a lot of colors appear to be the same from a distance or when seperate but are actually no where near the same color in person.
again, i understand why you're upset, i'd just hate to hear that your friendship is damaged b/c of this.

I can understand why you're upset.. I won't say you're wrong - I'm sure you have your reasons, it might just be the principle of it... but I personally wouldn't have a problem with this kind of thing. But that's just me... I mean if it's like you said that you probably won't even have the same guests then who will really notice that your bridal parties had the same dress/colors on? except for you and her.... brides are the only ones who really notice these things anyway...
Sorry it's bothering you... try to not let it get to you, it seems she's gonna do what she's gonna do... think of it as flattering - she likes your style!

I may be a bit upset too. But look at it this way the color may be close to yours but as long as its not the same exact dress I dont think people will compare.. You both have the same good taste. Maybe do something different with the flowers or hair to give it a different look

I would be upset also but maybe you can say something to her on how you feel. Is she set on that color? Maybe she will like a different color. It is a hard situation.

Re: Am I wrong? sorry long...
I see both sides but I voted 'no' because I would be a little like 'ok there are a gazillion different dresses and colors why pick something exactly like mine' but then on the other hand my MOH is my best friend and not family so we'll have none of the same people at our weddings (aside from my parents and brother) so I wouldn't mind if it was the same.
